I see rationalism in school a lot because you are using your brain to come up with answer to a question that you are asked. I see variations of puritism among fellow class mates also. Some people try and stay more pure than others and wait til they are adults to do things. While they are constantly being surrounded by other disobeying rules they find a way to still stay on their own path.

I think the biggest thing is science and religion. Many people like Christians believe that a higher man in power has created the human race but other people rely on science and say that microorganisms and such created us and we evolved from monkeys. It is everywhere today. People still fight about it today.these ideas are both very interesting, considering monkeys /apes aren't turning into humans today. They just aren't. This has a huge impact on the world but it makes people think about where they are from and maybe loose faith in a religion or loose faith in an a just as important topic of science. It makes me think alot myself and I still haven't really found the "right" one.

I believe that we find Puritanical thinking and Rationalist ideology theories in our world with religion and beliefs. We see them in private schools, churches etc. I think that it is found their the most because everyone has their own beliefs in that category more than anything that has caused problems and conflicts in this world between others. Rationalist and Puritanical thinking doesn't really effect me because I could care less. I believe in what I want to when it comes to beliefs and I don't really care about others beliefs. What I mean by that is that just because I believe something doesn't mean that everyone else has too. I believe that people should think what they want and believe what they want and everyone doesn't have to agree but they should respect it. In that sense those types of beliefs don't really effect me at all. We also see these in many different time periods

I think in today's world, there is puritanical thinking in school, jail, and work. In school if you do something bad you get punished by a bad grade, a suspension, or you get expelled. If you do something bad, than you will get thrown in jail, and if you do not type a paper for work you may get fired. For a religious school, maybe they might be worried about how their God, or teacher might come down on them.

There is evidence of Puritanical thinking and Rationalist ideology in today's world. Puritanical thinking in today's world is seen in Catholic and Baptist churches. With Catholic churches there are exact subjects you have to study and girls have to remember a bunch of Catholic rules. Baptist churches not as much but there is still some that you are not respected if you go in already not following rules or just ignoring them in general. Mormons as well have to follow specific rules and are not accepted into the temple if they do something wrong. Rationalist ideology is not seen as much. Private schools however have many rules like having to wear specific uniforms and have to take specific classes. I think these ideas are pretty much whatever. People can believe in what they want to believe and do what they want. They do not connect with my worldview because I think America allows the freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

The first thing that came to mind after reading about these was the debate between Christians and Atheists. Christians base their entire world view on the idea that God has created everything. Atheists on the other hand believe that this is in no way possible because of logic and reason. There is constant debate between the two groups with no avail because both are so deeply rooted in their beliefs.
This debate is HUGE In america right now because the phrase "in God we Trust" on American currency.

There is evidence of puritanical and rational thinking in today's world. One example of puritanical thinking is how some people use prayer and faith to heal sickness while rationalist will use modern medicine to treat sickness. PuritAnical thinking is not used in my life very much however I do use rationalist thinking or some version of it. Another example is how the dollar bill says in god we trust on it which is a puritanical way. All and all Puritan and rational thinking will most likely always be part of our life's somehow.

Evidence of both puritanical and rationalist ideology are both fairly evident in today's world. As far as puritanical thinking goes, there is a huge amount of evidence of this in the arguments for equal rights for same sex couples. People that are against same sex marriage argue that it is against their religion which is definitely similar to puritanical ideology. I personally think that any argument against equal rights is ridiculous and disagree. As far as rationalist ideology goes, the consistent proof of evolution and the resistance to that theory by religious figures shows a large conflict between the two. I personally believe that it is crazy to try to dispute something that has been scientifically proven rather it be evolution or anything else. My biggest question arising from this is the question of if classical religion is being trampled by current discoveries. Furthermore, what would be the results of such a huge shift in popular belief?

Evidence of Rationalist ideology in today's world is math, government, and philosophy. Our educational systems and currency is evidence of rationalistic ideas. In school we use rationalistic practices by using evidence to back up our arguements. Puritanical thinking in today's society is scene through churches and private schools that have religious practices.

Yes, you can find rational ideologists and Puritanical thinkers in today's society. They are in churches, however for some churches they aren't as strict and not so harsh with their morals. When you go to a church they will talk to you about their morals and how they expect you to behave, but who will base what they think to be facts on religion and their God. They believe reliance on reason is the basis for religious truths. Even today in schools teachers with tell us a theory and word it as a fact. Then religious people will base their god creating the world as a fact and not just a theory.

Puritanism is the belief in Original Sin which originated in the 1530’s and Rationalism is the belief that truth can be found through reason and it originated in late 17th century. But even though they both originated centuries ago, are they still present today? Puritanism could be represented today as the resistance against making gay marriage legal, because you have to be perfect; and some view being gay as not being perfect. I also believe that rationalism still exists today and is used on daily basis all because of the technology. We use technology to search for answers, and we try and make sense of we see and on the internet. Puritanism and Rationalism both have a huge affect on our world today.

Puritanism and Rationalism can be found all throughout the world today. Evidence of purism is in pledge of allegiance when the statment "...in one nation, under god..."is stated whether or not it is being interpreted religiously or not. Rationalism is found more in teachings of education in textbooks for math or past history. I think rationalism should be applied more when thinking in the real world because logically it can bring us all together to become smarter.

Puritanism and Rationalism evidence is common today, mainly with religion. What came to mind is, there is a decent amount of those who oppose religion as there is those who are for religion. There has been a the debate since I can remember if there is a God or isn't. The act of deciding what you believe on your own is crucial to our freedom of speech. Puritanism is shown for example through Christianity. As Rationalism is shown through science and maybe the idea of the big bang theory.

Puritanical thinking is mainly seen in a churches, schools, money, and many other aspects of peoples lives. Churches teach that Jesus was God's sone and that he was our savior. They also preach that their God is the one true God and should be fully accepted by whom ever follows their religion. Many schools in our modern day teach a certain form of religion. Students who attend these schools are taught puritanical ideas from a very young age and continue having this opportunity all the way through their college education. Printed on every piece of currency in America has “in God we trust” on it. References about God are also found in the Pledge of Allegiance. This pledge states “...one nation, under God...”. Rationalism is used everyday in modern day America. In every school people learn how to solve problems using logic. Every textbook, worksheet, and essay we put our time and effort into we are contributing yo modern day rationalism. We are furthering our knowledge about how to approach the world.

Puritanical thinking is everywhere in this world. Religion and beliefs have ran it since the dawn of man. Our science and history is a great reflection of puritanical thinking. Where evolution isn't real because a book says so. Wars fought because one religion is different than the other. It influences everything we know.

“Rationalism: a belief or theory that opinions and actions should be based on reason and knowledge rather than on religious belief or emotional response” (Google). Would it be fair, to say that public education today is a part of the rationalist movement? We are taught sciences and mathematics that do not use religious beliefs or ideas. Whereas on the Puritanical side of things, we teach classes of religion or history of religion.

Puritanism and Rationalism evidence is everywhere. I'd say Puritanism is very evident with religion. There is a pretty split amount of people are both for and against religion. The argument of whether there is a God, various Gods, or no God still stands. Rationalism is evident in science in the sense that many of those who say, don't believe in the idea of a God explain the world's creation in science. In the big bang theory, Pangaea, evolution, etc.

I think there are little traces of Puritanism and Rationalism everywhere. Science and Mathematics are very, I guess, "Rationalist" concepts. They rely on the facts and the reasoning behind everything. Puritanism was an almost orthodox way of life, and there are still people that live that way whether theyre from a different religion or not

Puritanism is often found in society today. For example in religion there is the people that people that everyone is un-pure and that everything we do is for god. You mostly see Puritanism is orthodox people today. Then there are the rationalists that question whether or not there is a God. Rationalists need reasoning behind everything while Purtanists use the bible for most of their reasoning.

There is definitely traces of puritanical thinking in our modern society. You can see it in education, religion, and also laws we have to follow because when the laws were first set we were taught morals to follow them and its kind of a tradition to follow them.

Puritan life is still all around us the biggest one that i could think of is religion so many still buy into thoughts ideals that they based their lives around in the puritan day and age. Yet in this day and age I wold not go as far to say that we are blinded by religion but still use it as a tool to our salvation and some as their destruction.
