Rethinking Our "Industrial" Mindset?
"We like to think of our champions and idols as superheroes who were born different from us. We don't like to think of them as relatively ordinary people who made themselves extraordinary."

Carol's quotes are very true because when we see someone amazing we always think they're special and they're not similar to us. We don't like to believe that they are just normal people because we don't think that we can do anything extraordinary so it's easier to believe that they were born that way. Her quote that says it's better to become something is so true. People don't realize that they can do anything they believe if they put their mind to it. Carol's quotes makes you think and remember that you can do anything you desire.
People of this day and age are stuck "being," caught in the endless cycle of technology and making plans and never actually doing them. People look at society and see an insatiable bar, so they stop trying, the simply exist instead of becoming who they are intended to be, they remain stagnant; people refuse to move forward. So we look up to stars and athletes, people who have reached the "bar"and even they are unhappy; even they are still human. They are ordinary, or just as extraordinary as you or me.
I agree with her Carol's quotes in the way that very talented people are looked up to as superhumas. Football athletes for example are people who I even think are super human are just people who had a different mindset and became that. People don't understand that anything can be done as long as you have the mindset and patience to do it. These quotes are encouragement for those who think they can't become their own superhero.
I think it is important to me as a musician to keep in mind that my influences are ordinary people like me to keep myself focused. Dreams are more important to some people than others, in my perspective. There are people that turn their dreams into their occupation and there are people who use an occupation to fuel their dream as a hobby or something. Regardless, dreams are still important to everyone.
Carol's quotes I think are really true because when we see someone who is doing something better than something we did or doing something for others we always go straight to a place in our confidence where we automatically thing that we are not similar to them. I think we should follow our dreams and become really good at something because because we need to do what we want to do and just be happy with what we choose in life. The video inspired and motivated me because the guy riding the bike actually followed his dream and did what he wanted and has practice so much that he is now great at it. I think what he is doing is something that he really likes to do.
The way that carol treated herself on that day should almost be a inspiration because in today's time people love to look up to the sports players and the movie actors where as we should strive to be on of them. One of the best quotes I have ever herd is, "You have to do what others wont today to be ale to do what others can't." Everyone we see playing in the NFL or in a movie we watch is just a regular person but they worked hard to accomplish their goals.
The quotes and the video relate to my life, and everybody's, because like Carol said we view idols and champions as something bigger and better then us and our peers and if you don't agree you are merely I'm denial because if you were to pass a famous athlete, actor or even the president on the street you wouldn't just walk by like you do very average Joe you would freak out because of the pedestal you view them on even though they are merely men like us. In the video we watched an incredibly skilled bicyclist and obviously we view him as someone who is better than us and he is, obviously, but he is the same as us and some day in his life his parents were teaching him to ride a bike he just chose to pursue it to, for us, unimaginable places.
The quotes by Carol Dweck help me gain a new perspective about the way I see the many people that are idolized by others. They are idolized because they worked hard to get to where they are at. Many people don't work to achieve the greatness they have done, it is more given to someone. The video shows what hard work and determination can do for someone.
Its very inspiring its amazing he has perfected something that many could only dream of he has a skill that is amazing he can take a look at something meaning less like a old train car and make an amazing trick on a bike out of it he makes you wonder do we really appreciate the true beauty that is constantly surrounding us the true amazingness that we are sounded by.
Carl's quotations, I believe are true. I believe they are true because growing up, every time we've seen somebody do something really cool or amazing, we soon to jump and say, wow! Especially, if they're doing something that you've always liked or wanted to do. Once we see those people do it, we look at them as heroes. Trying to do the same things they do and wanting to make it to their level. If we continue to strive and follow our dreams, we are able to achieve greatness. Though, it's not just going to come to you, you have to work for it, and work hard at it, and eventually it'll be there.
The Carol Dweck quotations relate to me because I am always trying to become a better person. Some things I do can't or aren't going to change but other things I can change. The Industrial Revolutions was another great Danny McCaskill's video that made me think again if he can be that good at something, I can be that good at something else. I realize at some point Danny wasn't that good at riding a bike. I might be a beginner at something but I could become a pro at something like he is at riding a bike and doing tricks. It makes me want to try new things and find something I'm really good at. The videos and quotes inspire me to become a better and more talented person.
The quotations relate to my world because of the ideas and concepts. All of his quotes are things and ideas I can agree as well as relate with. With the first quote he talked about idols and how we view them of their greatness instead of how they got there. People think of their idols of everything they've done or the cool things they've done instead of all the hard work and passion that went into it. All the work to get to success. They don't make me reconsider beauty because I knew of this before I read the quote about how much hard work and dedication goes into becoming a better person, the best version of yourself or to be great at something. I believe in follow your dreams and becoming at great something absolutely but just because I believe in it doesn't everyone else does. Some people have dreams but don't want to put in the work or take the next step but from my perspective I'm following my dreams and I think that is the best thing to do in life or your path, to follow your dreams and live with memories instead of regrets. The quotes and the videos reminded me of my current mindset. I was a little inspired and motivated by the video but I usually get motivated from other ideas, videos and or concepts. The video shows the bike rider's results of hard work and passion. He followed his dreams and hard work and I believe in doing those things 100%, its better to do the work and live a life of memories instead of a what could have been
THe video and reading both correlate with my personal life a lot. As Carol Dweck said, we do view people like professional athletes as being super human, however no one knows what it tool them to get there or the work they put in. Danny who is one of the best bikers in the wored right now once didn't know how to ride a bike. It takes sweat, blood, the sore muscles, and dedication to get to that level. Determination is stronger in some people than other but we all have it and we can all thrive on it.
The Industrial Revolutions video and Carol Dweck quotes show how ordinary people can conquer amazing obstacles with practice and hard work. Another thing this video has taught me is perspective on life. Danny McCaskill did amazing tricks on abandoned trains while most people would just see old trains rotting there. His perspective was open minded and allowed him to visualize himself doing tricks on the old rotting trains. Overall this video has showed me
that any thing or idea can be taken as an opportunity and it all depends on if you have a closed mindset or a open mindset
Her quotes is really meaningful in my opinion. It's like everybody has born with 2 hands and 2 legs. We all got brains and ability to do stuff like each other. All you got to do is to work hard and practice on things you want to be master at. Don't try to look at them as a superheroes or someone with a super power that could do the things you couldn't do, try to think that they are relatively ordinary people who made themselves extraordinary. And also "Becoming is better than being." is totally true for me. The things you've become is not as good as the thing you've tried hard to achieved.
I believe that being alone and doing what you love really balances out the mind set to make you more of a happy/accepting person. Just like in the Industrial Revolution video, the biker started somewhere, he had a growth mindset and accepted his mistakes/failures to kept pushing himself to get to that fixed mind set. I also think the quote by Carol S. Dweck "becoming is better than being" my understanding of this quote is applying change to improve with little stumps on the way is better than not improving at all with one big stump getting you no where. The beauty of change are the little mistakes which we can overcome, eventually. Each and everyone of us should be independent and passionate about something others aren't interested in. Being different strengthens the mindset and makes the brain think openly and differently
It is apparent that we all have strengths and weaknesses. Nobody is perfect but there is something within each of us that is unique and special and I believe that 100% genuinely. It is a personal choice to pursue greatness no matter what field of practice or study that happens to be in. It is of huge importance to the entire human race that each of us strive to achieve for the sake of a better world full of better people. Those that have already risen to greatness are seen as so far off from each of us especially as students in school. The case, however, is that we may be just as close to greatness as they were at 17. One's path may be predetermined or potentially not predetermined, however, in the case that it is, we have to take it upon ourselves to believe that we are destined for something amazing and do things in our daily lives that give solid roots to that belief, or else it will only ever be a dream. We find beauty in things that have blossomed and grown for millions of years such as structures, plants and oceans alike. The way I see it is that just as those things took time to develop into their incredible and unique forms, so will you and I. Not to say that we aren't already unique and beautiful, but rather that there is always room for improvement and excellence.
These quotes give me a new perspective on all of the famous people in this world. Anyone could be where they are. I believe we should follow our dreams and become the best we can. The video made me see how just an ordinary person who started doing something he loves can make it far in that passion with hard work and lots of work and learning new things. It is worth becoming something and putting time and effort into something if you love doing it.
The Carol Dweck Quotes relate to the video by reminding us that everyone has the potential to become great at anything they want to be. In the video the guy had to start out somewhere riding a bike. And with practice and hard work you can be the best.
The quotes and the video have shown me new ways of thinking and new ways of seeing myself and what I can accomplish. If there was a point in Danny's life where he couldn't ride a bike at all but now we see him doing big tricks and stunts in an area where most other people would just walk by and not see much to get out of that area. Than who would we be to suggest a more "practical" career or use of time, if he could become something by working very hard from nothing, then what would be stopping us? Nothing. This video and these quotes inspire so greatly and so amazingly.
I agree with her Carol's quotes in the way that very talented people are looked up to as superhumans. With that being said, I think that many of us set ourselves up for disaster sometimes because we strive to be just as good as someone else and forget to acknowledge what we can and have accomplished. Some things I do can't do or even some things in my life aren't going to change because they're out of my control. In the other hand there are things that I can change, and will strive to change, because I don't see myself as one with a fixed mindset. The Carol Dweck quotations relate to me because I am always trying to become a better version of myself.
Carols quote reminds me how I feel about media and todays idols/champions. Most are subscribed to beauty and the ideal of perfection but what confuses me is what makes celebrities today our idols or more so different then us. It seems to me there is not much behind the false advertising compared to the average person. And it really does make me reconsider why many of us do not think we have the ability to be and/or do. I believe everyone has the opportunity to achieve what they put their mind too. And that is where we look up to the real champions/ idols those who have achieved their dreams and you can see the determination and will power they put forth. I think that is one of the main things we strive for, to accomplish what we wish for but many of us lack the determination and that is very important to recgonize.
I really like this quote because I completely agree. People idolize very ordinary people, so much that we start to see them almost as extraordinary. All of us have talents that can be recognized and praised, whether we decide to flaunt them or not. We are all unique, talented, and extraordinary in our own ways. People that are famous worked really hard for their fame, and I think that is part of why we idolize them. They did what we wish we could do, have the strength and determination to follow their dreams, which is pretty remarkable in itself.
I think that both of these quotes are interesting, and inspiring at even the most simple level. When we place our idols on a pedestal we distance ourselves from them, and thus distance ourselves from a chance at greatness. These quotes coupled with the video featured show a nice bridge between what we once thought was great, and what we see as great now. With the video we can see the contrast of the ages, how we went from hulking machines used to open gates to the west, to something small and man powered used simply for entertainment and perhaps transportation to a much less degree. However, even with the differences they can still relate greatly. Once again I feel this plays back into the quotes, as they encourage us to become something great, even if we see ourselves as something as simple as a bike.
