I think that it is possible to find evidence or puritanical and rational ideology in everything if you are looking for it. To find it you have to want to see it so most of the time people will find evidence in something that doesn't have anything to do with the topic just because they want to believe it. An example is the Illuminati, there are people that can find evidence of the Illuminati in anything just because they want to. They could find it on a birthday cake or a random picture. The evidence found in the world all has to do with the thoughts and ideology of each specific person on the planet.

I believe that there are still some puritanism and rationalism roots though out modern day America. I don't think that it is perceived as extreme as it was in the past. It is largely thought that human beings can arrive at the truth by using reasoning which is the establishing thought of Rationalism. Puritanism is not seen quite as much. Individuals stand strong in their faith and that is the extent of current day Puritanism thought.

I think that the ideas that Puritans came up with are still used in our society today. For example the idea of having limited government still shows in our society. Puritans believed that no single group or person should be in charge of those kinds of decisions and so do we. We also still use the Puritan education system, meaning we learn writing, reading, etc. Also, many Americans have adopted the Puritan values of honesty, hard work, and self control.
I believe that much of what the Puritans believed was reasonable and effected America in a positive way.

I think that there are different variations of puritanical thinking in today’s society. A major example of puritanical thinking would be radical islamists. In present days there are many terrorist groups and activities done by radical islamists who believe that they following what their God tells them to do. While there are some peaceful muslims there are many who use their religion to kill and discriminate against others. I strongly disagree with this religion and how they choose to show their beliefs. It is disgusting that in the 21 century we are still prosecuting people for their choice or religion or lack of. This show their strict beliefs from their God that they will closely and strongly follow. Another example of this could be christianity. This is a little different because they follow the 10 commandments and other rules found throughout the Bible. This is less strict because there are no punishments against someone who decided to not follow or to sin against the commandments or Bible. These are just two simple examples but there are other variations of puritanical thinking in today’s society.

Yes, we can find evidence of puritanical thinking and rationalist ideology in today’s world. You could find puritans or rationalists in large public spaces, like Downtown Denver or in front of college campuses, expressing what they believe with posters and their voices. Most of the time Puritans and rationalists are kind of against what most people think. I have seen puritans before trying to spread the word of Jesus at festivals.

There are definitely examples of puritan and rationalism beliefs in our current society. Puritans are very strict believers of God and they believe in doing good morally. Christianity is the largest religion in our world so it is easy to find strong believers. You could be driving and see a large billboard that says something like "believe in Jesus" or "become one of his followers". Also, there are churches almost everywhere where it is preached to be one of his followers. There also are examples of Rationalism which is more based on logic and reason. I think the idea of evolution, which is taught a lot in school in society, can be an example. Evolution focuses on having proof and if it logically makes sense. Either way, I do believe that there are examples of both in our society.

On our day, I think that there are a lot of examples of both puritanism and rationalism. There are many people who will put themselves down because they aren't good enough, and don't quite meet the expectations of society. THis happens a lot with people who are famous, where they believe they have to be the best, or the 'elect few'. There are also many examples of rationalism, such as how many scientists go against their own beliefs, and looking at the hard evidence for answers. As technological advances have become even more prevalent, this has seemed to occur more and more often than ever.

I think that Puritanical think and Rationalist thinking in todays world. Many religions have some form of Puritanical thinking, they do so through either their spokesmen for their religion. Growing up in the Christian community you are always told the way to think. When I was a child my old priest use to ingrain the beliefs of the church into your brain and you would all most feel stupid if you did not fallow them or believe in them. But once you grow up they stop the forcefulness of knowledge. I also think that many people use Rationalist thinking today, through how they make the mature decisions, such as buying a house or car. There is always going to be some form of Puritanical thinking and Rational thinking in society because it will be passed down from generation to generation.

One obvious example of rationalism in our world is the scientific method, taught to students in elementary school. This method involves examining phenomenons through experimentation and mathematics instead of mere inference. It complements rationalism with its belief that humans can find truth through reason rather than faith. Puritanism isn’t as present in America as it once was, but the opinions that come with it are. Faith-based arguments regarding the legalization of gay marriage (a current issue) reference the sin involved with homosexuality, and more radical activists propose that all homosexuals will go to hell. So yes, both puritan and rationalist values are involved in our daily society.

You could find evidence of both puritanical thinking and rationalist ideology in the modern world. If you go to church, everyone there has some form of Puritanical thinking. They all want to behave, worship, etc... So that they could go to heaven. The sermons they read breed fear of the afterlife if they aren't perfect and repent. Rationalist ideology is just as easy to find in the modern world. Most scientists and Atheists trying to use Logic and rationalization to figure out how we are the way we are.

Honestly, I think this idea is really stupid. Likely, if let's say my friend comes up to me and says, "hey you should get to know my school's principal. he's really scary and will expel you if you don't do what he wants you to," then I'm not going to want to go to her school. That would scare me. Or, if I was already at her school, I would pretend to like him but I wouldn't actually. I would just do what he wants because I'm scared of him and when I graduated, I would be relieved he was gone. But, if she said, "hey you should meet my principal, he wrote my mom and card when she had her surgery and let me come to school late," then I would likely want to go to school. I would probably enjoy this guy because he has a kind, merciful heart. Not a cruel, powerful one. I think there are both Puritanical thinking and Rationalist ideology in this article.

Rationalism and Puritanism are definitely examples of religion and daily life today. People are always telling others to "think before they act" and "think twice before opening your mouth". Even today people want to do good, and in fact, almost every religion has to do with earning your way to heaven by doing good, except for Christianity. Christianity teaches that we are all sinful and cannot escape the wrath of God and we are destined to hell unless we are saved. Although it is called "the largest religion in the world", people aren't willing to give up their sins.

There are over 7 billion people out there, at least one of them are a puritanical thinker, or and rationalist. We can find these people anywhere. A rationalist is someone who bases their opinions and their actions around reason or knowledge. I kinda believe in this because it makes sense that having knowledge of something, you could believe in it. I think everyone is a little rationalist because when you think about the presidential election, we use our knowledge in order to pick our favorite candidate.

The ideology of Puritanism and Rationalism resonate today in people's modern day beloved and the way they approach their beliefs. Jehovah Witnesses use fear in order to manipulate their followers so that they gain gain more people in their religion. Many people are too scared to understand logos so they use false information to persuade people. I personally think that this approach is very brainwashing and is what makes people closed minded and unable to create their own beliefs in life. It's very limiting from experiencing reality. Rationalism reflects our society/culture today because it uses factual information that can easily be proven. It is in many practices such as science and math. I think it is a very structured approach to thinking but it also needs to have more emotion in it. However, rationalism is more valid and accurate than Puritanism even though Puritanism connects with our emotions.

There is a lot of Puritanism in today's society. I think this way of life or type of thinking rather makes people very close minded. It makes them not open to new ideas or other ways of life. I think people should live how they want to live no matter how they get judged for it. If these people want this way of life good for them.

I believe that you could find Puritanism and Rationalism in today’s society. Although it is still prevalent today, it is not as much as it was a few decades ago. Specifically, religions today have a lot of puritanism. Christianity is the biggest religion that believes that good morals and actions result in good faith. Rationalism could relate to other more logical types of religions, in which one should base reason solely on knowledge and not religious belief. In conclusion, puritan and rationalist thoughts still occur to this day.

I absolutely loathe the ideas of texts like J Edward's. The use of fear to expand your beliefs is disgusting, symbols like the idea of God shouldn't ever be associated with hell. The afterlife and ideas about it shouldn't have any place in our world. Ideas of life after death are what most successfully turn people to a religion's every whim. The fear of death is the most prevalent and influential fear that exists. Affecting people's perceptions of death is the most effective way to change their thinking, and such negative opinions on death and the causes of it are unhealthy in a severe way.

The most obvious example of Puritanical thinking in the modern world is the Westboro Baptist Church. One of the most notoriously hateful churches in the United States, the Westboro Baptist Church propels their message through religious propaganda and hate speech. While the two movements are not carbon copies of each other, similar themes such as using fear to propel one's idea, as seen in the quote, "If God should only withdraw his hand from the flood-gate, it would immediately fly open, and the fiery floods of the fierceness and wrath of God, would rush forth with inconceivable fury, and would come upon you with omnipotent power..." from Edward's sermon carry through both movements.

J. Edwards text to me was very admiring but scary to think about. The fact that he can say things to make people fear him yet they believe him is admiring. He is literally scaring them yet they still believe in him. Its scary though because that could be happening to you right now, Someone that powerful to use fear to make people believe in them is definitely a sight.

There are many different evidence of puritanical thinking and rationalist ideology in today’s society.. Puritanical people are people who are most likely strictly religious and believe in the opposite of a rationalist person. One obvious example of this is religious people, specifically Christians who may go to Church. Puritanical people go to church based off the Bible or some other source. Rationalist people are the opposite and believes things when they see it. Just like how some people do not believe in ghost until they may experience one.

I believe that there are still puritan beliefs in todays society because it is something that helped build American individualism. They also believed in hard work will get you wealth and to be thrift with your money as well. Which a lot of Americans want to become wealthy and get the most "bang for their buck" when buying certain things. Another way there're still puritan beliefs is they had a set rules everyone had to live their life by, to look good in the eyes of god. Which you and I have to follow certain laws and live our life by those rules to look good in the eyes of our employers, family, government, and friends. I also believe that we also use rationalism in todays society. We use it in science everyday because they only believe in things they can see and test to prove it is real. They do not believe in a god but they do believe in the "goddess or reason". Scientology some what does they only believe in what they want to which is kind of weird because they claim to be a religion but the definition in the dictionary is "the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods."

I think puritanical and rationalistic ideas still very much exist in todays world. In a world that is always connected, those ideas can spread fairly easily. Ideas can pass from person to person in a matter of seconds. These ideals still exist, and can form into new ideas that others start to grasp onto. In such a connected world, people can share their ideas and surround themselves with lots of people who have very similar ideas, giving the false idea that everyone else must share this same idea.

Puritanical and rationalistic ideas existed in past times, and I believe that they will continue to exist in the present and future. In the present world new ideas flourish as they have a new visibility and ability to be seen through social media. Also to mention is the need for humans to make sense of things, which compels our desires to learn about new ideas and develop new thought processes.
