A song lyric that I believe represented a poetic meaning was The song Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield "Today is where your book begins the rest is still unwritten" This lyric I believe is a metaphor for our lives and how every individual has a different story and path they take their for representing a story book.

One of my favorite songs is Spring by Miette Hope because there are powerful metaphors within the song. This song lyric portrays a poetic meaning, ¨How much of my weight will make your ice break, tell me what it will take for you to crack and let me in, slipping on the surface of your thick skin, I just want to fall in, I will have to wait till spring,¨ (Hope). This song lyric illustrates how a person loves another person but they aren't ready for change yet, so they have to wait until the person is ready. Similar to how seasons change, it takes time, and some seasons last longer than others. This symbolizes that people move at different paces and some are ready for change faster than others. Humans all change at different rates and experience things differently. That is what makes everyone so unique. Society needs to learn how to be patient with one another, respect how other people live their lives, and stop comparing oneself to others.

A song that I know by heart is Life Changes by Thomas Rhett. One of the lines is "Life changes (yes it does) and I wouldn't change it for the world, the world, oh no And I wouldn't change it for the world." I think that this line shows that if you accept the changes in your life and celebrate them your life will turn out great. This song describes his unique life, but how even through the bumps he finds good and in the end the bumps are the best things in his life. He describes how he loves the changes and how he loves his life. Everyone needs to appreciate life like he does. The song just shows how much he cares about his family and how he loves them. It makes me happy and like changes rather than hate them. Everyone in life with has different challenges in their lives and different paths will be taken. Thomas Rhett is representing his story through this song.

One of my favorite songs is "Fall Apart" by Post Malone. Post Malone sings "She told me that I'm not enough, yeah And she left me with a broken heart, yeah She fooled me twice and it's all my fault, yeah She cut too deep, now she left me scarred, yeah" This connects to poetry because it has a pattern with "Yeah" after each line. There is a some patterns in poems like a repeating word or phrase. He is talking about a girl that has left him and left him with nothing but darkness and this is something that is so familiar to a lot of people.

A song line that could exhibit a poetry term could be the Ben Rector song Note to Self and the line in the song is, “and note to self: don’t let yourself worry quite as much. It’ll end up fine enough; it always has up until now.” The song gets a point across to listeners that things will work out and you just have to keep reminding yourself that everything will be okay if you continue to live your life happily and to the fullest. The main message of the song is to continue to remind yourself to be you and no one else. Everyone at some point in their life may want to live a different life, but they need to stay strong and keep living how they are being they are the best version of themself. Personally, this song helps me get through tough times because it a nice reminder that everything will be okay.

A favorite song of mine is Earth, Wind, and Fire’s September. The opening lines, “Do you remember the 21st night of September? Love was changing the minds of pretenders - While chasing the clouds away,” use imagery and figurative language to convey the notion of happy memories. In particular, the bit about clearing the sky of clouds drives home the idea of powerful positive vibes. While it’s more than a little cheesy to see these lyrics on paper, they undoubtedly do a great job of adding to the already playful and lighthearted nature of the song.

In J cole, Love Yourz, he says, "It's beauty in the struggle, ugliness in the succes." J Cole is known for deep and meaningful lyrics in his songs, but this was has always stuck out to me because how relatable it is. It is not about any material things, but rather a mental side note. Everyone is always worried about the end result, and what success and glamor that will get. In the quote though, he is saying sometimes success is not always as it seems. And sometimes happiness comes out of the grind, while you are working to do something great. So do not get caught up with the end result, rather enjoy every moment of the process to get there.

The song idontwannabeyouanymore by Billie Eilish has the lyric, "If "I love you" was a promise. Would you break it, if you're honest?" It has the simplicity and a deeper meaning than what it actually says. Like Dickinson, it talks about leaving and sadness. This one line is talking about how many people say "I love you" without meaning it. How often Eilish must have said it for the next line to be "I don't want to be you anymore." It has a deeper meaning to everyone so it is really subjective.

One of my favorite songs is Landslide, by Fleetwood Mac. This song has rhyming and a meter throughout. It’s overall structure is very similar to poetry because of how it contains a lot of repetition, and has consistent rhyme schemes One of my favorite parts is, “Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life?” I also like this song because of all the symbolism and metaphors throughout it, which also relate to poetry-style writing. I like how the overall message of this song is that life is very hard and fragile sometimes, but the tone of the song keeps the song encouraging and not sad.

One of my favorite songs is by Queen: The Show Must Go On. There are lyrics in this song that you could easily find in a poem, "My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies, fairy tales of yesterday will grow but never die". Most Queen songs are extremely powerful but this one is on a whole new level. This song deals with allusion and there's a power in it that I've never heard in any other song. It's emotional, which makes it one of my favorite songs by far.

One of my favorite songs is Sixteen by Thomas Rhett. One of the lines is "And we sit around and we laugh about how we used to be, when all we cared about was turning sixteen." I think that this line shows how people are so focused on growing up and their future that they forget to spend time in the present. By doing this we end up missing all of the great things which are going on in our life right now. I really like this song because it talks about something everyone can relate to, at one point or another everyone has been too focused on there future to really can about the present. I like Thomas Rhett as an artist because with most of his songs he represents his life and what he has gone through.

The song I chose, "Afterall" by beartooth, exhibits a line that goes, "I woke up with the same dark feeling; head on the floor and my thoughts on the ceiling". I believe this shows a darker side to poetry. The metaphor is that his dreams and aspirations are too high for what he believes he can conquer. The song is about the struggle with mental health and that as soon as they fix the dark parts, they break down again. They whole message deals with how they believe they are the only ones like this, but another leak come to the realization of, "I guess I'm just human afterall" showing that many people are like this.

One of my favorite songs is "Without You" by Avicii. "Like the wind we'd be wild and free
you said you'd follow me anywhere" shown before is lyrics to this song. Poetry can be seen through the descriptive words as well as the comparison of a person to the wind through a smilie. A smilie can be seen because the word like is used to compare a. person and the wind. It's interesting to see in this short line of this song a major amount of poetry terms can be seen. If I was to do the entire song I think the amount of poetry used would be difficult to count. This simile gives a deeper understanding of the song and allows the person listening to make a connection between two things. Overall a major parallel can be seen between not only this song but every song lyric and poetry.

One of my favorite song lyrics was a song by Ed Sheeran. The song titled "U.N.I" the most powerful lyric was "Pain is only relevant if it still hurts". I think he is saying that the (emotional) pain you felt in the past is nothing to mope about today, because it happened so long ago. That you have to forgive and forget. Ed Sheeran is known for his powerful and meaningful songs. He talks about the beautifulness of life and can really show us what life is really about.

One of my favourite songs is Killer Queen by Queen. I love how the song compares a woman to Marie Antoinette and uses history references to describe someones personality and life. The line "She's a Killer Queen, gunpowder, gelatine, dynamite with a laser beam, guaranteed to blow your mind." uses metaphors to describe a women and tell a story of a women life. It is similar to a poem as the song repeats phrases often and rhymes in some areas of the song. I like this song because it does sound unusual and there are many layers of meaning to learn about and understand and I think that is what makes the song so similar to poetry.

I choose the song Poetic Justice by Kendrick Lamar: Every time I write these words they become a taboo- Making sure my punctuation curve, every letter is true- Living my life in the margin and that metaphor was proof. The line," " means him telling stories that actually have meaning is taboo to today’s rappers, since most of em just talk about money, cars, and other material things. A metaphor in the song is when Kendrick says “lives his life in the margin”, which is literally the small blank space at the end of the lines he writes. Metaphorically he lives his life in the boundries outside the masses.

When Wiz Khalifa said "livin young and wild and free", I think we could relate that to many different things, personally I would say that means live happily and good things and freedom will come your way, the three words can mean whatever you want them to mean, and I think that's what is so special about that line. Young can mean open minded and healthy. Wild can also mean open minded and adventurous, and free is pretty self explanatory.

The song I chose was "Barack Obama Special" by Bas. The lyric I chose was,
"I pray to God, I call in my request, I tell Him my regrets, I tell nobody else how it feels, I cannot share the stress I'm feeling." I just have always liked this line because I feel like a part of all of us can relate to this, everyone goes through stress at some point but it seems like we can never say anything. Unless that's just me haha. But seriously, life gets tough at times and sometimes we feel alone but this song just makes me feel good and like I don't have a care in the world. Especially when I saw him in concert on the 2nd of February. This song definitely stood out.

As a quote from a song that has represents a poetry term was "Don't criticize what you don't understand." From Bob Dylan. Personally, I see people lash out at things that they don't understand all the time. That is why this line speaks to me. This is the poetry term a lyric, meaning it has a private thought or emotion. Donlt criticizes what you don't understand is a personal opinion or thought so that is why it is a lyric.

In the song Coaster by Khalid, the lyrics, "Moving on seems harder to do
When the one that you love moves faster than you" I think we can relate to this however we want to interpret it. These lyrics are very strong and have a huge meaning behind them. When he says moving on seems harder to do when the one that you love moves faster than you, is obviously about a breakup and the other person doesn't care as much as he does. In poetry we can interpret lines how we want them, for example, you could relate this to something you had to give up such as a sport, pet, or even giving up a place you used to live. This lyric is powerful in its own meaning but when you think about the deeper meaning it becomes even more powerful.

A song lyric that really stands out to me is in the song 6 Foot 7 Foot by Lil Wayne in which he says that "real g's move in silence like lasagna". I think this line is impactful because a real g is someone who isn't fake and they aren't worried about what other people think and stay out of other people's business. The part where he mentions moving in silence is also an idea I think everyone can learn from. I personally don't think we need to be bragging on social media and stuff about all the cool stuff we got going on. Sometimes people got to keep to themselves and work on what they want to do instead of doing stuff to gain others approval or envy. That's why I like this line because we need a lot more real people in this world who genuinely care about what they are doing with their lives and trying to be the best person they can be.

A song that has stood out to me for quite a while, is ¨Another Day In Paradise¨ by Quinn XCII. My favorite part of the songs is where he says ¨I'm hoping that they figure out, it's all about the scenery along the route, these moments are so kind¨
This gives me a message of hope and to enjoy the little things. Though it may not seem like it sometimes, but we do live in paradise. Everyone is taking their own route, and every single person has a bump in the road. Get your stuff done but enjoy it and have fun. There is so many cool things to see in this world and this song is indicating to go out and explore, and to enjoy the path you're taking.

A song lyric that I find very poetic is from Of Monsters and Men’s Crystals. The lyric is “I know I’ll wither, so peel away the bark / ‘Cause nothing grows when it is dark”. This lyric describes how, even though it may be frightening, the only way to grow as a person is to get out of your comfort zone, or reach out of your shell. This lyric is very poetic, as it describes a thought, feeling or ambition through the use of metaphors and sensory images.

The song lyric I chose is "I wish I found some better sounds no one's ever heard/ I wish I had a better voice that sang some better words/I wish I found some chords in an order that is new/I wish I didn't have to rhyme every time I sang" This is a good for of poetry because it has a rhyme scheme but purposefully doesn't rhyme the last to lines because he is talking about his need to rhyme. I think this is a good use of using poetic forms to cross a point that is not directly said.

One of my favorite songs is Mantra form Bring me the Horizon. One of the lyrics says "Could I have your attention, please? It's time to tap into your tragedy, Think you could use a new abuser, Close your eyes and listen carefully, Imagine you're stood on a beach, Water gently lapping at your feet, But now you're sinking, what were you thinking?, That's all the time we have this week," It shows the different psychological ups and downs a person can have and also tries to get into effects of tragedy. This also rhymes well and the words flow smoothly. the song is originally about starting a cult and how to use peoples psychological weaknesses. this is interesting to show through history the followings of the past.

One of my favorite songs is "I've Told You Now" by Sam Smith. One of the lyrics says, "You know what I mean, Although I try my best, I still let down the team." This lyric is saying you should always keep trying and never give up even though you let your team down. Don't let that discourage you. Don't get discouraged and don't feel down. Always stay positive and keep trying. This lyric is poetic, as it describes motivation and sensory. It also demonstrates a real life experience that can happen to anyone.
