After observing the video of the slave trade and after reading Frederick Douglass novel, makes me think of how sad this point of time was, because families were being separated friends and family were lost, and lives were destroyed. It is also saddening to hear and see the impact of what each slave went through and what that must have been like to be in a time of such hatred and insanity. it's interesting to know each individuals story and point of view of what accused during that time though.

Watching the video and reading the first few chapters of Frederick Douglass showed me how hard life was back then. Families were separated and their lives were hard. In the book, it is hard to hear the hardship that a young boy/ man went through. His story is interesting to me because it is interesting to me to hear about someone's lives and think about how different it is then mine. The journey on the boat caused many deaths and was very hard. Everyone on the boat had a reason to leave where they lived, but I bet on the boat a lot of people asked if it was worth it. His book draws interest to me and says the story of his life and what happened to many other people too.

As watching the video of the slave trade and during reading Frederick Douglas's I had quick reactions to feeling sympathy for what these people had to go to. As I watch the amount of dots that travel across the ocean, I wonder how it really must have been during that time. The biggest the dot means the more crowded the ship... this is so heartbreaking to see that people had to go through this during such a hard time in their lives. This must have been heartbreaking and something no one would have wanted to go through. It is sad, inspiring, and amazing all at once that this actually happened to people and had to be done.

After watching the video, it is heartbreaking to see how many people were actually affected by slavery because it impacted so many lives and families. Each one of the boats had a large range of people, their journey was not going to be like a plane ride, this was going to be tough, grueling, gross, and many would die while on the boat. The video relates to the narrative of Frederick Douglass because he was taken from his family and sold to another plantation and owner. Reading the book and watching the video, really puts people in reality to see how grateful they are for what they have and the life they live. Many people had to go through the pain of slavery which is just so upsetting.

I think that this video really shows the mobilization and how streamlined things come to be globally. Within years there were hundreds of ships carrying hundreds of slaves in the cross-Atlantic trade, and towards the end of slavery nearing the civil war/after the civil war you can see how the trade slows down and which regions become the new hotspot for trade as the civil war affected the legality of owning/trading slaves.

After watching the video about slave trade and reading the article. I think it opens my eyes to how over 10 million slaves were brought to Brazil and the Caribbean, but of those 10 million, only 300 thousand slaves actually ended up in north america. It is sad to see during the 1600's, boats began to cross the atlantic much more frequently than before. 10 million slaves is a lot of people, especially knowing every slave came from tribes in Africa. Families torn apart, people treated as nothing but pieces of meat used for manual labor. Its truly an awful and regretful part of history.

After watching the Atlantic slave trade video and reading some of Frederick Douglass novel, I find that he was a brave young men who wants everybody to realise what really happened during this time period. While we often view the slave owners as terrible people(which they are) Douglass views them as just people simply raised and affected by the environment that made them like this and he never seems to be angry with them. Douglass finds that staying with your beliefs and never use violence to solve problems to make the world a better place. It makes me feel sad for what happened and that it is something that is even part of history. I think that his autobiography brings awareness to what really happened in a very open way that many other books do not show.

After watching the video of the slave trade and reading Frederick Douglass novel it showed me how hard life was back then. Frederick Douglass story is interesting to me because it is so different than the way I was raised. The children get separated from their mothers practically right after birth. I couldn't imagine how different my life would be without my mother. The video of the slave trade made me realize how sad it really was. Many people on the boats had a reason to leave where they lived. But after experiencing the conditions of the boats many people regretted leaving where they were.

Reading the first few pages of Douglass’ story has reminded me of one of the nastier aspects of humanity. When there’s opportunity to make a profit, some will turn to amoral means to come out on top. Coupled with centuries old biases and unjust superiority complexes, it makes for one of the most infamous blemishes in American history. This sense of disgust is then given a grandiose proportion by the slave trade video, showing people being shipped and sold like livestock by the thousands. Such a monsterous system is built to break more than the spirits of those who suffer through it. With all of this in mind, Douglass’ story feels all the more incredible. It takes an obscene amount of bravery to strike out against something as oppressive as slavery, and an even stronger character to have a career like douglass did after his escape. Hearing his unique perspectives on his own past is intriguing to say the least. Approaching such detestable memories with a calm and cool aura is certainly out of the ordinary.

After watching the The Atlantic Slave Trade Video, it showed me what life was back then. Every year, the slave rate increased especially in Brazil and the Caribbean where the slave merchants brought the majority of enslaved Africans. It is sad that these young africans are taken away from their families and are shipped away each year. I couldn't imagine how hard it must be for them to experience this. I realized how many slaves are shipped each year and it keeps adding up. I think his autobiography awares the readers about this situation/what happened. All the hurt and the pain that they have to go through is horrible and nobody should have to go through this.

After seeing the video of the slave trade and reading some of Frederick Douglass’s work, I was thinking about how many slaves died on the boats transporting them, and lived in horrible, dirty conditions. Many slaves would try and jump off the boat to escape a worse death or future, and it made sense that they did this given the life most of the slaves faced after the boat trip. The slaves that survived this terrible journey, or slaves that were born in the states would seem to be lucky, but in reality they are still going into a horrible life as a slave. This is what I think of Douglass, as he was born in the states, and didn’t have to ride on a boat, but he still had to go through some very hard times.

The narrative of Frederick Douglass shows the terrible truth and the pain of the life of a slave. The video of the slave trade just showed how many people there were. How many stories like Frederick Douglass's but without the ending of freedom. The number of people who died on the way here and the number of people who died from beatings. There are so many more people than those on the boats. Years and years and years of the slaves on the boats having kids, and those kids living horrible lives is heartbreaking. Douglass was lucky in his ability to escape and live a better life. But there are so many that were not able to escape. But no matter what, no one should ever have to go through what they went through.

After watching the film, it made me think about how hard life was like back then. Overtime slavery just increased by the year. It is hard to watch and realize what life was like for them, by leaving their families behind and how hard the labor truly was. It also makes me think how lucky I am. I don't have to experience anything like that. Overall, I think I am very fortunate along with many others that we don't have to face something like this.

While watching the video and reading Frederick Douglas's book, the video and book talk about the same period but in two different narratives. The video just shows the boats going from one country to another only showing a fact-based viewpoint. Fredrick Douglas shows from the perspective of living through the struggles of being a slave. He showed the human struggle of being a slave and the interactions with other people. He showed the difference between being a slave, and the other people mentioned in the story.

After watching the short film, it got me thinking about all the lives that slavery affected. It was amazing to get to see what Fredrick Douglass's life was like, even for a few minutes. It makes me think of all the stories that other slaves had that where not recorded and it makes me sad that we can't learn from there stories as well. Looking at my life, I realize how lucky all of us today are. I am grateful that most people now will never have to experience the hardships that slaves had to go through back then.

After Watching the video and reading some of the book, this makes me think that I am lucky to be where I am today. I appreciate what I have and what my life is like now. Also this film shows the terrible truth of the life of a slave. I really do feel fortunate to not have to deal with a life like this. Through all the pain they faced I am really glad I am free.

After viewing the African slave trade film, it put Frederick Douglass’ narrative into perspective. I like how Douglass’ viewpoint is very personal, and it shows the good, bad, and very ugly of the life slaves were subjected to. But when you put both the film and the narrative together, it really shows the immense scale on which this terrible cruelty happened, and this scale is very hard to wrap your head around. And although it took a long time for people to move in the right direction and to make change happen, I feel lucky that it did. These texts put together really show the massive amount of slavery that happened, and the massive amount of change that had to be made to end it.

After watching the Video about Fredrick Douglas, I think that through pain Fredrick Douglas pushed through the harsh life of a slave to become a influential and moving public speaker. He was influential in helping african american solders fight for there freedom and the freedom of slaves. For these reasons people all across america learn about him in elementary school. His books bring people back in time to when people did terrible things to slaves. his righting might prevent this from happening again.

After watching the video and reason a coupe chapters of the book i realize how much I take my life for granted. I have a good house, food, cloths, and an education. We do not realize how much we have compared to what other do not or what others are going through. Slaves during this time would be treated worse than I can even imagine being treated. It really puts things int perspective. And shows how people would to anything to be free, and we complain about it all the time.

After watching the video I realize just how incredibly prevalent the slave trade was at the time. I also learned off the cruelty that frederick talks of in the book and throughout the facts in the video. I think it is crazy how many people don't know just how big the slave trade was which is shown in the video. But also in Douglass's book we get a window into how terrible the lives of all the slaves were. The video shows the scale and the book shows us a detailed view from a primary source.

After watching the film, I got an overwhelming sense of security. Having the fortune we do to live in the US and live our life as free as our neighbor. The idea of being able to wake up and do whatever we please must be unthinkable to people in the conditions of their captor. Some people don't get the luxury to think or speak how they want, but these people don't even make money for a more physically taxing job than any other fortunate person. It really puts first world problems into perspective.

After watching the film, I feel as if I have a better understanding of Frederick Douglass's story and the pain that he had to live through. Not only does this film allow me to grow my understanding of this narrative specifically but, it creates just and overall sense of slavery awareness. Slavery has been a topic that I've constantly learned about throughout school. Normally I've learned about the history of slavery and rarely about a personal story. This film connects the history of slavery to a personal tragedy and allows me to read this book knowing the real pain and tragedy that arose from slavery. Overall this film Is very powerful and really puts life in perspective.

After watching this film, I'm very upset to see that he lived this type of this life. it makes me appreciate life more. because it could be way worse. but going back to that time, slavery was a huge thing, people real life suffered, like fredrick did, its very tragic to see, hopefully this never happens again to anyone.

Through the film and even the narratives, it makes me very upset. Not only does it show everything that went along with slavery, it makes you think about what it may of been like. Being beat, treated unfair, and just tossed around like dirt. None of these things are anything a human should go through anytime in their life. The sad part is that this was normal back then. No one would question it, which is absurd. Frederick, was able to share these stories because he was able to make it out, but many people will not make it out.

This video was lowkey shocking and eye opening. Tens of thousands of ships were filled with tens of thousands of slaves. The amount of mistreated africans throughout history is really brought to light in this video.Modern life can definetly by considered an improvement in terms of forced labor throughout the years, and it's safe to say we live in a much healthier world then we have over the past 400 years.

I think that this video opened my eyes to the hurt that the slave trade caused. It showed me the extent to which people that were involved in the process. The amount of slaves that had to travel in the slave trade is completely crazy. I think about that amount of people on those shipsand the amount of people that died on those ships. It breaks my heart to think about how hard the lives of slaves were and how much they had to endure during this time. I think about how if the slave trade had continued to present day, what would those numbers look like today? This animation has put my thoughts into perspective.

The video was brutal to see how many people are being affected by this. Thousands and thousands of slaves being transported on ships, with slaves constantly dying. It is shocking to know this is happening and its also very sad. It has gotten better in the past five hundred years but improvement still awaits.

This video connects to Frederick Douglass due to them coinciding with the slave trade. What stood out to me was the fact that I've been learning about slavery for almost all my life, but it wasn't until now that I see a new perspective. Frederick Douglass' story is so different than what I've seen and read before because of the way he describes his own experiences and detailed life. Usually someone's slavery story is told or written by someone else. But Frederick had no one to censor or to miss out on some important and/or awful detail. It is this that truly makes me realize the horror and suffering that people had to endure during these times in America and South America

This video really connects with Frederick Douglass because it talks a lot about slave trade. I've always thought that slavery was a terrible thing but after actually seeing it happen, I now realize just how bad it actually is. I now have a better understanding of what Douglass went through and it makes me feel horribly for how he and many other civilians lived.
