The documentary relates to the American Dream because these people are working hard, sacrificing things, and earning the things that they want. It also portrays the American Dream because everyone has a fair shot at winning the truck. If the individual chooses to work hard and win, then he or she will win, just like in America. This documentary also relates to other pieces we have read this semester so far because they all have a common theme of hard work or sacrifice. The characters of the stories are always giving up something or working to get to something. The documentary portrays both of these ideas. Overall, the documentary symbolizes both the American dream and pieces of literature we have studied this semester.

Everything presented in this documentary relates to the "American Dream" because everyone was so focused on the prize regardless of sacrificing everything and working tremendously hard. It connects to the "American Dream" because everyone has the same opportunity on accomplishing it. It all depends on how much are you willing to sacrifice yourself for the prize. Anyone can come here wanting to accomplish the "American Dream" and can easily "win the truck" with enough effort. This documentary relates to the transcendentalists because they lived without society's problems and the individual is independent and free. In the contest, everyone was working for themselves and they were independent, just like the transcendentalists. The documentary puts together the "American Dream" and literature that we learned last semester.
The Hands on Hardbody documentary never directly says anything about the american dream however, the american dream is shown in the characters attitudes towards the competition. Every competitor we see is extremely motivated to win this truck, and we see most contestants give up days of their lives to try to win it. This is an accurate representation of the american dream because it shows that no matter what background you come from, if you have the determination you can win the truck. This mindset has been relevant since early in america's history and in early american literature. In the text How it feels to be colored me, Zora Hurston, shares this mindset. She will stop at nothing to achieve her goals. The winner of the contest shows the american dream most of all because it shows how anyone can achieve success if they work hard and are committed.
After watching the H.O.A.H.B.T. documentary, there are a couple of ways that this relates to the american dream. One reason why is because it is an american dream to win a car. In todays era, there arn't many competitions that you're able to win a car in. The only one iI can think of, is being the Super Bowl MVP, and not every person has anywhere close to an opportunity at being able to compete at that. Another american dream, during the era that was taking place, was to just to because to have a car. A lot of the people that were interviewed, didn't look too wealthy, and most likely did not have a car. Do you think the car dealership lost, or earned money in this competition? They could loose money by giving away a car, but they also were putting out a lot of advertisement by doing this.
The H.O.A.H.B.T documentary relates to the "American Dream" because it shows the contestant's determination to win the truck in the belief that it can better their lives. They invested so much time and effort in the competition just like in America, a successful future comes after all the hard work and determination you placed in your education. Anyone can achieve the "American Dream" as long as they are willing to make the effort to attain it.
The H.O.A.H.B.T documentary relates to the american dream because the truck to these people can symbolize hope and opportunity, when they interviewed the people about why they wanted to win it they said things like they can get a better job because they said they would work somewhere that was close to their house so they could walk or bike but if they had a truck they could get a better job and they had more opportunity. If they win the truck they can do whatever they want with it and no one will question what you do, that’s the idea of the american dream for me. The man that won gave the truck to his wife which was a very kind move because he stood there for almost 80 hours then just gave it to his wife so she can do what she wants with it.
H.O.A.H.B.T. presents a very similar metaphor to the American Dream that appears in a lot of our Literature that we have studied so far this semester. These people are willing to go to extreme lengths to achieve their dream. In someways people make this contest for the car seem like it is going to make their life change completely. The American Dream could completely change one's quality of life and the content of their life as well. The contests act and pursue the truck as if it is their American Dream, which it may be.
After watching the H.O.A.H.B.T. documentary, I can relate a few things to this being an american dream. I think that an american dream is striving for your dreams and going all out for your dreams and going through pain. These people went through pain and hardships trying to win this car. In this day and age an american dream is to become successful and have a lot of money or to be the MVP of a professional sport. These people had a dream of winning that car and any dream is an american dream if you believe it.
After watching the documentary called H.O.A.H.B.T. I believe that the documentary did show some people having the American Dream. The people that I did believe have the American Dream where the people who had real goals in mind. Who didn't have a big picture, but just a small one. Those people did last longer when it came to the standing, but the ones that dropped out didn't get frustrated, which I thought was amazing. I honestly thought people were going to get angry at the fact that they did something wrong, or get angry at people cheating. I was very surprised to see that the people who did witness other people cheating didn't say anything. I feel that I can connect with those people bcause of the fact that they all had a goal, but the only problem is reaching the goal and that helping hand was a car. I can honestly relate to that because I have had plenty of goals that I wanted to reach but couldn't get a helping hand it. There were many of people that I felt didn't have the American Dream and those people I believed didn't have the American dream didn't have good enought goals. I did wonder why The winner one given that he didn't know what he was doing. I feel that those tips that were given by the last years winner did help him win. I was actually surprised that he won because I felt that the other lady that was into the singing was going to win, but she couldn't go on because her feet were hurting. Overall I feel that this documentary did show how people's American "Dreams" could be achieved with a helping hand, and that helping hand could have been anything, but for these people. The helping hand was the truck.
After watching the H.O.A.H.B.T. documentary From the little that I actually got to see, I saw great determination, drive and focus from the people participating in the contest. That is part of the definition of the american dream. Each person In the video wanted to win the car, for their own reasons and competed for it. That is the ideal thing of the american dream, competing for the truck and proving your self is the dream. I was concussed for a while so that is all I saw in 1 part of it.
The american dream is one that relies heavily on monetary incentives and competitive nature. People associate money with living a happy, well off, content life. However often can be too obsessed with monetary rewards and lose sight of keeping up with things that do matter such as spending time with loved ones and doing things for others. The american dream for many is being happy and successful in a well of country and to people in this competition they see this truck as a start towards being happy and successful and taking their piece of the american dream.
The H.O.A.H.B.T documentary relates to the "American Dream" because these people sacrificing things like time, energy and effort and are are working very hard trying there best to earn the things that they want in life because that's the american dream and the american way. We as Americans all have a fair shot to become who we want and this is a fair competition because they all have shot tho win the prize. This documentary also relates to other pieces we have read this semester so far because they all have a common theme anything is possible if you put your mind yo it and work hard to make this dream a reality.
The Hand on a Hard Body Truck competition does relate to the American Dream. The perceived value of this truck is high enough that people are willing to wait extremely long periods time and put themselves through great amounts of stress to win this. In the same light, people often spend many years putting themselves through a lot of brief in the pursuit of the American Dream.
The people in this video are no different than any other American, and while their pursuit may be a truck, for many people it is something greater- a better life for their kids or a pursuit of a lifelong dream.
After watching this documentary there are a couple ways I saw it related to the "American Dream" .The first way is that they all making great efforts for something that they wanted to achieve which was getting the car and they all wanted it so bad they stayed up for more than 3 days this connects to it because we as Americans strive for something more and something that will make a change in our lives. Another reason was that they were willing to go great lengths for that truck and stay for over 72 hours and all the effort they put into this competition is like how we put so much effort into doing whats good for us and what will benefit us in the future.
The H.O.A.H.B.T Truck documentary shows a lot about the American Dream. They worked their butts off for what they thought they could win and take home, a truck. They all trained for as much as they could and found support from their friends and family to help them through the good and the bad times. A lot of the people in this little competition had the wrong mindset. The ones who had the worst attitude about it were the first to let their hands off of the truck. The people who actually had faith in themselves and had support to help them through are the ones who stayed in the longest. They all seemed to use the same lifestyle. They all were from a small town and lived near each other. It actually didn't give them any leverage from that. This all relates to our learning this semester just from each of their mindset. Some of them thought more about realism than anything. They were the ones who called out the judges for not calling others out for lifting their hands from the car, who always thought about what is realistically happening, and who never thought they would win secretly because that's not realistic. Some were more religious than others and then there were the ones who thought more of what could happen than what might not happen. I wonder what they were all thinking in secret as they sat there in the beginning compared to when they were trying to talk themselves out of leaving the competition. I know sometimes when I am in a competition and I know I won’t be able to go on, i'll have a discussion with myself about what could happen and what needs to happen. I think everyone has that moment when they need to decide if they really can move on.
