Inspired?

"All my life I had been looking for something, and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was naïve. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: That I am nobody but myself.”
--Ralph Ellison, From Invisible Man

The presentation and the Ralph Ellison quote relate to my world because I have accomplished tasks and taken risks that I never thought I would do. The quote explains that you are who you are, and everyone is unique in their own special way. I think we should follow our dreams and even if people along the way say you can't, you ignore them and keep pushing forward toward your goals. I can connect the quote and video to my academics as well as hockey, because when people say you're not good enough, you have to take those words and translate them into motivation, which helped me achieve goals throughout my hockey career.

The Inspired Bicycles presentation and the Ralph Ellison quote relate to my world because I feel that at this time I know who I am, and I have come a long way from asking others questions about who I am and who I should be. But, I should have just been asking myself. The only opinion that truly matters is your own. We are who we are and each and every individual is different. We should live the way we want to live, though we still need to abide to out parents wants and the way they want us to live while under their roof. Always follow your dreams, you never know where they will take you. I always think there is a positive to everything, just like Pierce said, you have to take the negatives and turn them into your motivation. It'll make you strive to be the best.

Inspired Bicycles and and the Ralph Ellison quote relate to me because they make me think more and wonder what I could be doing with my life. I wonder what things I am capable of and how I could possible someday change the world. They make me think from all different angles and through another view. Not just the way I've been looking. I think that no matter what people tell you, if you want to do something then you can do it. I never thought it would be possible to do anything like in Inspired Bicycles. But I've been proven wrong. And so have probably a lot of other people. Ellison's quote makes me wonder, am I who I say I am? Am I this person that I claim to be? Or am I something much bigger, capable of things that I don't even know yet? These both make me want to go out into the world and explore as much as I can. They make me want to try things I never would have thought of trying. They've even made me want to do something even more now. I wouldn't completely change the person I am now, but it makes me wonder how much I can still growl

The Ralph Ellison quote and Inspired Bicycles presentation provide me with a new perspective. Both of them encourage uniqueness and individuality. The Inspired Bicycles presentation shows a man who found his passion and shared it with the world but added his own twist to make unique and personal to him. The Ralph Ellison quote says "That I am nobody but myself" and this also motivates me to learn who I am and share it with the world rather than trying to show the world someone else.

The Inspired Bicycles presentation and the Ralph Ellison quote provided me with a new perspective about making decisions based on our own opinions, not others’. As we go to college and decide what we want to accomplish in our lives, we must take into consideration what we enjoy. Although parents, counselors, and friends may try to persuade us to follow a certain path, it is important that we pursue our own unique passions and goals. Otherwise, the world would be a boring, lifeless place with no creativity or individuality. Our quirks are what make us unique, and it is essential that we share those quirks with the world.

The Inspired Bicycles presentation and the Ralph Ellison quote relate to my world because both of the inspirational messages show me that finding inner happiness is the greatest gift you could give yourself. If you have achieved inner happiness within yourself, you will be able to prosper and go to great heights that you never thought was ever possible. Both presentations did in fact provide me with a new perspective. They showed me that when you really want something in life, you have to go after it and you don’t give up until you have it. For example in the Ralph Ellison quote, he was determined to get the answers to his questions from people who he thought had the answers, but when he realized that he was the only one with the answers he was looking for, Ellison didn’t give up his fight to find those answers. In the Inspired Bicycles presentation the bicyclist found happiness in himself through biking. The biking eventually increased his inner happiness which allowed him to become a phenomenal bicyclist and allowed him to see the pure beauty in simple, everyday life.

The Inspired Bicycles presentation and the Ralph Ellison quote relate to me, because I know who I am. These references did not provide me with a new perspective, because I would not try to change who I am. Each of us should examine our lives by the things we love to do, and the people you enjoy being around. Even if, like myself, no one has told you that you are incapable of accomplishing your goals, you should challenge yourself. Challenging yourself can even lead to finding more about you that you never knew before. For instance, before I started the Arapahoe girls swim season last year, I never thought that I could ever measure up to the girls who had been swimming their whole lives. I decided to challenge myself and try out for this new sport that I had never really cared for before. At first, the season was rough, and I would be out swam by the entire team. As the season went on, I began to cut off time at every meet. No one had expected me to cut off around 15 seconds in each race. By keeping at it, and challenging myself at the practices, I had gotten better. Like swimming, I have also tried to challenge myself in my academic endeavors. For a few years now, it has been my goal to achieve a 4.0 grade average. Although I have not reached it yet, I hope to continue challenging myself to reach that goal. As I was reading Ralph Ellison’s quote, I felt a desire to continue challenging myself in swimming, and in my academic endeavors.

The presentation and Ralph Ellison quote relate to my world because they remind me that even if I get knocked down I can still get back up. The presentation proves that even if somebody says you can't, only you know if you can or not. The only way you will know is if you try. We should always follow our dreams. Many times it is what our dream is that keeps us pushing forward. If not for the dream we might not continue to reach for it. It makes us more determined. The presentation and quotation can connect to my academic endeavors because only I can accomplish them, nobody else. Even mistakes can make us who we are. How we deal with a certain problem and how we fix it is what makes us learn and become who we are. If we don't act as ourselves the world will miss out on what we can give to it.

The Inspired Bicycles video and Ralph Ellison's quote connect to me in certain ways. Inspired Bicycles really connects to me because it shows that even if you come from a small place, you can be creative and inspired to never give up on your dreams. People can say that you won't do what you want to do or be what you want to be, but at the end of the day you make your own decisions. Which leads me to Ralph Ellisons quote, that entails him trying to find himself but asking other people and listening to others telling him what to be. I have had this problem before where I tried to be someone im not because someone told me to or I was expected to do so. Finding yourself is finding the confidence to stand up for what you believe makes you happy in life, inspired, and creative. Although this confidence isn't news to me, Inspired Bicycles and Ralph Ellisons quote did give me renewed prespective about the way I should live my life.

The quote by Ralph Ellison combined with the video Inspired Bicycles showed me personally that people in general do not live the way they truly want to. Most people go through life with an adequate job and maybe a family, but overall, I do not think they are truly happy. The way to live is to find something that is a passion, something that will give happiness for many years, and to make a career or lifestyle centered around that. Also, sometimes people forget to hang onto the simple things, like taking a nap every afternoon, or to enjoy a snack. It's so much better to take a break from the rush-rush life we live and relax than it is to work to death.

The Inspired Bicycles presentation and the Ralph Ellison quote relate to my world because sometimes, as teenagers we will do almost anything just to be accepted. People will tell us anything and we will believe them. Especially from our peers. For me, words from my peers I take to heart which is damaging to self growth. The presentation and the quote both demonstrate that we need not worry about how the world is effecting us, but how we are effecting the world. We have to ask questions to get answers but chose which answer we accept. I can sometimes see a glimpse of who i am, but only when I am loving others. I think that is what we are here for, loving one another and supporting eachother through life. Finding our nitch in this world is only part of it.

The Ralph Ellison quote and inspired bicycles video showed that people can acheive what they want to achieve as long as they put the time to do it and follow there own path rather than what other people say or tell you what to do. This relates to my own world because everyday there's always someone whether a friend or family member telling me who i should be or what to do rather than listen to myself and follow my own path. The video and quote put a different perspective on things by showing that you should follow your own path and do what you believe in doing.

From watching the Inspired Bicycles video and reading the Ralph Ellison quote the main thing that I took away is that you have to carve your own path through life. If you go through life following in someone else's footsteps you never find the things that make you unique. Ralph Ellison says, "I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer." I think this quote correlates with my response in that the only person that can live your life is you. Although you can be inspired by others to live your life a certain way, ultimately its you that makes the choices.

I don't really feel like the quotation and presentation connect with school because they are more about dreams and my dreams lie far beyond years of school and
academics. I have seen the Inspired
Bicycles video multiple times, but every time I watch it, it feels new again and I take something new away from it. This time watching it the message I got was that there is something that makes everyone unique and everyone has something only they can do.

The bicycle video and the Ralph Ellison quote really relate to my life. The bicycle video just proves that if you set your mind to something, you can achieve it. The man in the video was not born to ride a bike, he had to be taught, work hard, and make goals so he could be the best he wanted to be. This encouraged me, to work harder than I normally do in the school year and in sports. Right now I have a setback, a broken foot, and the video helps me take a step back and put things in perspective, and it keeps me motivated to do all I can. The quote talks a lot about where you are in your life, where you want to be and just who you think you are as a person. I feel I have come a long way to finding myself. I have had hard times where I felt I lost myself, but I always just thought about me, not who the person on the other side of the cafeteria saw, but what I saw in myself. Both of these presentations encourage me to be myself and take risks and just be positive.

Ralph Ellison's quote and the presentation represent the same goal which can definitely be translated into my own life. I believe the quote has one of many important messages for people searching for themselves because how we are defined is are choice and are choice alone. Along with the Inspiring Bicycle he probably had little to no believers only those who said he wouldn't be able to accomplish his goals. Similarly in my life I have learned hockey and let it be a major focus point for me; and though through the years I have never been given a chance or even an opportunity to be a "top tier" player it has never discouraged me from returning to the rink every year to play again. At the end of the day as long as no one is able to influence someone with discouraging comments there is hope to be the best at anything.

The Inspired Bicycles presetation and the Ralph Ellison quote really inspired me to think in the way that I can be whatever I want to be. It shows us success when people put their minds to something that they will actually succed. These two sources show me how I can be really successful with a sport. These are two examples of people thriving because of practice. With a strong work ethic put forth in everything I do in life, I will benefit from them, not only with sports but academics too. A dream is a great example of both sources. If you commit to your dream, you can really achieve the dream as shown through both sources. One thing I really like about the Invisible Man is how Ralph Elloson says, "I am nobdy but myself." This helps all of us because most of us made a decision based on anothers. It shows that when you are not your own person you live a completely different life.

The Inspired Bicycles presentation and Ralph Ellison quote relate to me because I believe it is important to do what you love and always be yourself. The Inspired Bicycle presentation really showed a new perspective on ordinary places that people probably take for granite and don’t pay attention to much. Both the quote and presentation infer that following your dreams is important and so is living your life to the fullest. The video really motivated me to keep doing things I love and to not get discouraged by negative things people may say.

The Raplh Ellison quote and the Inspired Bicycles relate to my world because they both demonstrate that anything you need to succeed is found inside of yourself. Danny Macaskill from Inspired Bicycles taught himself how to do stunts on a bike; showing that you can do whatever you put your mind to with hard work. The Ellison quote shares with us the importancce of just being yourself. I can relate the Inspired Bicycles to my volleyball. There will always be people who tell you that you can't and that's when you have to prove them wrong.

The Inspired Bicycles video and the Ralph Ellison quote relate to my world because it describes how all of us are trying find ourselves and our happiness. This opens my eyes to how we could possibly live. I think, though sometimes not practical, we can follow our dreams and accomplish them if we dedicate ourselves to them. I think that it connects to academia in a way that sometimes school can help you accomplish your dream. This still motivates me even though I have seen it several times. It is still amazing how humble he is.

I find this quote by Ralph Ellison to be very powerful. It's message seems so obvious, but really is commonly overlooked. I agree with the portion that said, "I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer." I think this sentence describes a large portion of my life. This includes my life inside of school as well as outside. I am trying to search for who I really am without letting others sway my personal opinions and beliefs. I watched the video, Inspired Bicycles, freshmen year of high school. When I first saw it, I was inspired to find out my passions in life and not be a follower all of the time. Even two years later, I am still pursuing that goal. Though I've gotten a lot better at following my personal interests and passions and breaking away from the crowd, I still have a lot of work to do. This quote and video have motivated me to work even harder at finding out who I really am and following those passions without being influenced by the popular path. They have also inspired me to work even harder at aspects of my life, such as school, which will greatly influence my future.

The Inspired Bicycle presentation and Ralph Ellison quote show that anything is possible with a little effort. In the Inspired Bicycle presentation, the cyclist worked hard in order to master the life threatening tricks he does. Throughout my daily life, I try my best. I work hard in school to achieve good grades and I work hard in any sport I participate in to gain mental and physical strength. Working hard in school and sports will help me get far in life as there is a direct correlation to working hard and succeeding in life. The Ralph Ellison quote shows that after much thought, you can find who you really are. I realized that it does not matter what people think of you. The only thing that really matters is what you think about yourself. With a little effort, you can get very far in life.

The Inspired Bicycles and Ralph Ellison quote related to my world because I have explored new things and taken risks that I never thought I would do. The Inspired Bicycles presentation showed me that everyone has their own talent. The biker found his and the presentation encouraged me to find my own. He followed his dreams and became successful and I believe that if I follow mine I could do the same as well. The quote showed me that it's better to be yourself than someone else. You have your own opinions and your own disadvantages and advantages. Both visuals gave me a different view on the world and myself. I can be whatever I want to be.

the inspired bicycle movie relates to my life because i have life goals and struggles just like every one else in the world does. but here is someone who rose up from the bottom of his industry to become something great. this shows us that we all can accomplish our goals if we are truly dedicated to them. im not going to say i have had a hard life because i know there are many more people than me that have been though hell and back but still come out on top. but i have had struggles and still do but this showed me to forget about my hardships and stay on that grind

The video of the biker and Ellisons quote just made me realize the only person that knows who you are is yourself. If i had to say right now in life, i would say i havent figured out who i am yet, but thats ok. I know that in time i will figure it out. Everyone in life has something that they were meant to do, some find themselves easily when they are young, and some die without ever finding there true love and purpose in life. No one on this entire earth is the same as anyone else, we are all different. That is what makes the world a wonderful, colorful place full of different cultures and religions and races, it is what makes humanity humanity. If all the people in the world looked, acted, and felt the same way, the world would be a ddull and boring place, and who likes boring?? Difference in the world is what makes it intersting to meet new people and travel to find who other people live. Everyone is different, and even though some people in your life may try to tell you who you are or what you should be, no one knows who you are but yourself. I know one day that i will find myself, and i know that no matter waht, only i will know who i am at the end of the day.

The video we watched on the bike and the Ralph Ellison quote relate to my life because they are saying that your the only you, and only you can find who you are and what makes you happy and what inspires you. I am truly inspired by both of these. The presentation of the bike showed me that you have to find what makes you happy, find what drives you, and go after it. And the quote tought me that I am the only one who can find it. I strongly believe that we should follow our dreams because if we dont we wont ever be truly satisfied.
