Inspired?
"All my life I had been looking for something, and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was naïve. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: That I am nobody but myself.”
--Ralph Ellison, From Invisible Man

It relates to our world because, in the bicycle video, many of us didnt know how to ride a bike, but now with practice and doing it everyday, that guy got better at it. He is riding on railings and ledges. He even road up a tree. Life is the same way. We go to school five days a week to get better at a subject that interests us. We prepare ourselves for college, so we can major in something. take chances in life, follow your dreams. So apply yourselft to the world.
The presentation relates to our world because sometimes in life it takes failing and getting back up and to keep trying. The guy in the presentation didn't just hop on a bike one day and be able to do all those crazy tricks. He shows us that things don't come easy but after much practice and failure you can achieve great things. From this I learned you shouldn't just give up on something when it becomes too hard. Like in school, it has only gotten harder and harder but we shouldn't give up because it is going to benefit us in the future. The Ralph Ellison quote shows that we shouldn't let the influences of others change who we are or want to be. We are all unique and we can't change who we are. The quote and presentation show us that we shouldn't give up, be ourselves, and follow our dreams no matter the obstacle.
The Inspired Bicycles presentation and Ralph Ellison quote relate to my world because they show that you can do anything, as long as you are being yourself. We should examine our lives by the accomplishments that we have made and by the hard work it took to get all of those accomplished. During the course of our lives we will get many opportunities, some we will take only because by taking them we will be on a path to success, even if it isn't what we want. In those cases, I wouldn't follow my dreams because I want to have a good life and be able to support myself so I can later follow my dreams, but in most cases, I would follow my dreams. The presentation and the quote are related to academics because if you are doing a math problem and you don't get what it is you can't just give up otherwise you will never get it. The quote and presentation motivated me to do the best I can in everything because if a guy who doesn't know how to ride a bike can do tricks like those, then I can do my best at anything I work at.
The Bicycles related to me more than quote because I am a very independent person and am not typically going to ask questions that I can answer. The bicycle video related to me because he did not know how to ride a bike his entire life, however over time he practiced and got where he is today. The same goes for me and hockey. I did not play hockey my entire life but over time I practiced and now hockey is one of the biggest parts of my life. I don’t think that we will live life to the fullest and achieve what we want to achieve if we don't follow our dreams and that is how the bicycle video inspired me.
I think that these two pieces relate to our world because no one can really tell you what you might enjoy doing or what what path you take in life. In the bycicle video it shows how an unique passion over time can you get you to better places with practice and only your mental push to get better. Following our own dreams is really important because over time you begin to map out how you will achieve this and you will get more excited to ba able to see your dream become a reality. This inspired me to not just listen to peoples opinions of how or which way i lead my life, their opinions could steer me somewhere where i calud end up unhappy and wish i had proceeded down a different path.

This quote and the "inspired bicycles" video relate to our world not in what always happens to us, but if were lucky will happen to us. The man in the video for whatever reason developed his bike skills to where he could perform those amazing feats. The reasons why he pursued this are limitless, whats important is he does something that is him, that he can now share with and do to inspire him and the world around him.
The quote gives us guidelines to how we should pursue our lives and ourselves. We don't know whether the bike man actually enjoys his hobbies or does it to please others, although we would think he finds interest in it. The connection and point is that in an ideal world we pursue what we love, become ourselves, and end up with something in which we can share and inspire others, and more importantly ourselves.
I think the quote and the video relate to my life because no matter what people say you can or can not do in life, it all depends on you and if you believe in yourself. If we believe in ourselves then we will be able to get to where we want to be in life and get to that next step that we all want to get to. The quote and video made me think twice about how I should look what I am doing in high school and how it can help what I am going to do later. But most of all it made me think that i need to believe in myself, pruse my dream, and share my experience to help others later. With these skills anyone should be able to be succesfull in what you do or want to do.
Both the quote and the presentation relate to our world because life is not a straight path to where you want to go and what you want to be. Life can take turns for the better and it can take turns for the worst. In the bicycle video that guy did not wake up one day and be able to do all those crazy tricks. He probably failed and failed but he kept getting back up any trying again, and now look at him.If you fail you need to get back up again. He found him self through his biking tricks, and some day you will find yourself. The quote says that you need to find who you are and the man on the bike did that. He stuck with his bike no matter what, and that is what we need to do with school and out education. School will be hard and at sometimes you will want to rip your hair out. I am sure that is how the man on the bike felt, but he never gave up and neither should you at school and your education. Believe in your self and you will achevie anything.
The Inspired Bicycles presentation and the Ralph Ellison quote both relate to our world in many was. Ellison, splashes his readers with a dose of reality. I think that throughout the quote he explains how he realizes that you're only yourself, and can't ever be anyone else. However, the Inspired Bycicles video showed me a different message: you can succeed to great levels if you believe in yourself. At first, you may walk into something with your head held high ready to chase that dream; but it's not that easy. Without practice or failure there wouldn't be the pride of achievement. I think we should follow our dreams because if not, there wouldn't be anything to look forward to. If you want to go somewhere in life and or make a difference, you have to crave it; not expect it without truly wanting it first. This video personally inspired me to ignore others' negative comments and keep going. Live the life I want to live, and never, ever give up.
I think the Invisible Man quotation and the Inspired Bicycles presentation are both very applicable to my life. The prevailing idea being that, if you push yourself, stay motivated and follow your own desires you can succeed in ways previously not thought possible. From personal experience I agree that the only voice that truly matters is your own. Whether it’s pressure from parents, friends or teachers at the end of the day it’s your life and you call the shots. I think the in this Invisible Man quotation Ellison has an epiphany and realizes these ideas. This year I will try to keep this in mind as I strive for academic excellence and general happiness.

In the video that we watched about the man on the bike it shows a man that didnt know how to ride a bike even as a child this relates to us in our days as students at this high school. as we say learnign hwo to ride a bike is like a journey. you constantly have trouble staying on the bike when you first learn to ride. In high school you can face many challenges that you must over come in order to be the best student that we can be. we all will face many challenges but with much practice we will be able to be the best we can be.
This presentation related to my world because it shows that hard work and dedication can bring you to do anything you want to in your life. He did not just wake up one day with the ability to pull off tricks like that on his bike. He spent many years practicing to get where he is today because he was inspired to be the best that he can be, just like as students we should be inspired that if someone can do something like that, we should be able to atleast show up to class and do our homework everyday. This video inspired me.
The Bicycle presentation relates to our world today because just like Ralph Ellison started out not knowing how to ride a bicycle, most other people had to as well. However, Ralph was able to put forth the effort to become the great bicycler he is today by trying hard and practicing, which can be implemented in all aspects in life if someone wants to truly do something they put their mind to. If we look at our lives from day to day and know that we put a moderate amount of effort, or more, that might reflect on who and what we may become. People’s dreams can vary, and as long as those dreams are realistic for the person I believe we should follow them to where they might lead. After seeing this film it did make me think twice on how those dreams might impact my near or far future.
It relates in every way to my world, no matter how people look at things, everyone is themself, as well as I am myself. Also in this world, which is my world, people can push themself as far as possible to achieve their goals, possibilities are endless, it's those who realize that that create a masterpiece in their life. While I read all the questions all I think is that no person can answer these questions and be truly right, as in the quote, "I am nobody but myself." we can only decide the things for ourselves. All I can say is that I don't know yet what the best way for me to examine life for myself, so I examine in all the ways I can. I don't know who I am, but I am learning more about myself each day i live. I shall live, by trying things until I am satisfied and happy. I chase many of my dreams, but after a while some aren't worth chasing, so i follow many dreams, but not all, and in the end, who will say if it was worth it. Realizations change, you can realize something one day, then the next realize an oposing realization that fights your first, just realize that living life is a great realization in itself. Of course they can, but they don't have to. It all depends on interests and self motivation. A person will only thrive in achieving in something in any aspect in life through interest. Even school related, interest is key. I wouldn't say they made me look twice personally its something that people tell you when your little, and it really all depends whether you keep the idea or throw it away because you don't agree.
Well in the quote, from Invisible Man, it is basically saying that nobody can tell us who we are or influence us in any way. We need to realize for ourselves what we are and put are put our minds. Which is exactly what the "Inspired?" video is saying. The guy in that video just put his mind to it and became a really good rider. He's insanely good just because he focused everything towards riding his bike. He proved that we can do anything
The quote and the video relate to my life because I believe that if you want to do something, not just ok but great, then you have to practice. You’re not just going to wake up one day and say to yourself “hey I’m going to go bike 20 miles!”, you have to start slow and build up to that. It includes sacrificing and dedication to be able to do stuff like that. Setting goals for yourself and having dreams that may come true someday, gives you something to work for. Having goals makes you that much more successful in life.
I can really relate to this quote and the Inspired Bicycles presentation. The philosophy of these excerpts can be applied to my everyday life. The ideal of living your own dream and not someone else's is pivotal in both pieces. Reflecting on this idea, I have seen the negative repercussions on my uncle's life who lived his mothers dream of being a teacher. He hated the 30 years he taught resulting in depression and non enjoyment of his retirement. When I examine my own life, I have to be cautious that I don't try and walk in my brother's and sister's footsteps of a college soccer scholarship. Although I do love the game, I am not sure I want to play at that level. I highly believe in following my dream of becoming a successful graphic designer. Following your dream, to me, gives your life a purpose and something to really focus on. Soccer takes up a lot of my time, but I am passionate about graphic design and often I wonder if I have time for both; these two excerpts really made me think about that. Watching the bicycle clip reassured me that impossible is nothing. If you want to become something and live your own dream you can achieve greatness. Not only did these excerpts make me look twice they made me think twice as well. I strongly believe that everything is in the mind; if you put your mind to it you can do it. We are all human who can control what we do and live our own dream.
The presentation, Inspired Bicycles relates to our world today because it displays how a man who had to of started with no experience, can perform what most would consider impossible tasks, by dedicating his time, mind, and body to working towards a dream. This presentation truly shows just how far hard work and determination can take us. The Ralph Ellison quote relates to our world because many people search and search for answers that cant be found in the world surrounding us but don't take the time to look into themselves. the most important answers are the ones we find on the inside because those are the answers that define who we are. If we let other people answer these questions of who we are and where we will go in life, then we will only be limited to borders they set for us.
This relates to our world because so many people don't know how to do something, and haven't taken the time to learn it, but they might actually be really good at it like this bicyclist. I think we should examine our lives by looking at all of the different things we can do and try, and make the best out of it. I definitely think we need to follow our dreams. If it is something crazy hard like all of the tricks this guy does, then we need to believe in ourselves that we can do anything we put our minds to. This presentation can relate to our education because school gets hard, and even harder as the years go on, but we need to know not to give up and try our best, and eventually we will succeed. They inspired me to try my hardest and to never give up on my dreams because I fail, or if someone tells me I can't do it.
The quote and the video can relate to every single person that looks at them. They both share a similar meaning and that, in a nut shell, is be yourself. Don't let anyone tell you differently or try and voice their opinion over yours or influence your decisions if that's not the road you wish to head down. Everyone is capable of "being yourself," it just takes courage and determination to do so.
Alongside, everyone has their own special talents whether it's academics, sports, relationships, or any other possibility, but it can take time to understand yours. Basically, don't let anyone try and be you, for you. With time and effort, becoming the real you can guide you through life so much smoother and happier than letting someone else do it for you.
This is a truly inspiring story. This story relates to my life because sometimes in my life I look to other people for advice when really the answers that I need are within me. You cannot find yourself through others. You must look within yourself to find your true identity. I think we all struggle with the simple task of being ourselves. I am always trying to impress people and please others. I have learned that being myself not only makes my life easier and more real but enriches and improves the quality of it. I think that we should all live in the moment like Ralph Ellison does. He does not take no for an answer. He follows his dreams. He does not get beat down by the words of others. If everyone in the world followed their dreams and never took no for an answer, then the world would be full of many people who are more motivated and successful in their daily lives. Also, as I look to college, this presentation and quote really inspire and motivate me to give my all and do my best in my academic studies in order to be successful in college.
The quote does not relate to my world but many people in my world do think like this quote. The Bicycles presentation related to me and my world because I have a passion in sports and it shows that to do certain talents, it took practice to get there. We as people should cherish our lives because nobody is immortal. What I think is that everyone should make the most of what they have. Everyone no matter what should follow their dreams and decide on what they want to do for the rest of their lives. Nobody should be able to control yourself besides you. This video and quote has inspired me to really focus and work hard on everything I am given because it leads to new and amazing opportunities. An example would be to work my hardest in academics because grades are everything to me and I want to go to a good college. Watching the Bicycle video was something spectacular, it opened up my eyes and made me realize that anyone can do anything if they really put their minds to it.
To learn to walk you must first be able to crawl. To be able to run you must first be able to walk. This bicycle video shows us a glimpse into what many years of practice resulted in. At the start of the video it shows the biker falling after trying to preform a stunt several times. How many times have you seen an infant fall flat on his face while learning to walk? After a few minutes of failure the movie shows his success. Finally the man accomplishes scaling the top of a fence riding only on his bike. The video then continues to reveal his completed tricks. In the end it shows us that we must build on our own achievements rather then others.
This video relates to our lives and school in a dramatic fashion. Our first year in high school consisted of teachers who spoon fed us materials and study guides. Sophomore year we graduated from Gerber's baby food and began to walk on our own. By Junior year we should be sprinting and working the hardest we have ever worked before. Just like the biker, our tricks have gotten progressively harder and we had to start somewhere.
The Ellison quote only shows us that we must learn on our own rather then looking at others for answers. We must learn to be ourselves rather then trying to become like someone else, someone we are not. It shares the same message as the movie, that we are who we make ourselves and that we must slowly learn things before we can become are true selves.
I think that the bicycle video and the quote by Ellison both relate to my because they show that as long as you chase your dreams and live your life the way that you want to you can accomplish almost anything. I think that "we" as a people are one thing making the world work in our own individualistic ways. we should obviously follow our dreams because if we did not follow our dreams and did what everybody wanted and expected us to there would be no variety in life and it wouldn't be that fun. I think that i will put the same kind of attitude as the bicycler into my school work and life my life the way that as the invisible man came to realize his.
Both the quote and the Inspired Bicycles presentation relate to the world because they're about life and the challenges we face and ultimatley conquer in our own time. We can all do what most believe is impossible, if we're fully committed to ourselves and the journey it takes to get there. We should examine our lives through our own opinions and view, not anyone else's because only ourselves can understand how and why we think and do the things we do. Everyone is their own person and that makes us extremely diverse, so we can only be who we make ourselves. The world and people in it should live how ever they want to live and however they see fit. The lifestyles are constantly changing from person to person.
Everyone should follow their dreams no matter what anyone else thinks or says. We need to realize that no one else's opinions matter but our own. Both the quotation and presentation definantely connect with my academics because I used to be so concerned with what other people were doing and what they thought in classes that I didn't focus on work. They didn't really inspire me because I've already been working on my path my own way, without caring about what others think, but they motivated me to keep going and focus on my own goals for myself. The most recent thing I've learned and continue to practice is being myself, because life's too short to be anybody else.
This quote and the movie relate to the world becasue they both say that at one point in your life, you find out who you are and what your supposed to do with your life. They both say that we should live like its the last day on earth. I think that we should follow our dreams, becasuse thats what keeps us going in life, and to never give up. I think that the quotation and the presentation can connect to my acidemic endeavors because they both are saying that we should never give up and to follow our dreams. I think that they did motivate me to kkeep following my dream and to succeed in school and in life.
These two stories relate to the world because at one time we didn’t know how to do something and after time u gain experience. They show living on the edge and that how we should live our lives. If you want something bad enough you will take the initiative to practice. Just like in school if we want to succeed we must participate and have the motivation. These two stories motivated me to live my life to the fullest and give 100% in everything I do.
The Inspired Bicycles and Ralph Ellison quote have a relation with the world around us because we dont see what we are able to do in life, we just want to find the easy way out for all the troubles that we got, an these video makes you think that everyday there are more people like you that are able to do better things because they want to find a better life and better pat to choose. You must get in world and find your way in life.
