"You can be somebody." A Man Named Pearl was very inspiring in a sense that we can be anything that we want to be. Pearl gave me a sense of hope and comfortableness within his video and how he presented what he has done with his life. This video made me contemplate different views on living life and that life is too short to not do what you love. I admire that Pearl enjoys what he does and that he is such an inspiration to people all around the world. "Nothing lasts forever." Pearl makes the best of knowing that nothing lasts forever and makes ugly things beautiful even if he knows they will eventually die. Pearl is a great man. I was also inspired by the words he put in his lawn, "love, peace and goodwill."
A Man Named Pearl was a very interesting film. It made me realize how much time and effort he put into his garden. His garden was his dream. Something he would always have and look back on to say I accomplished that. His job did not earn him a great deal of money, but through his garden he found happiness. Another cool thing about his life is how he did not buy the plants, but rather get them from the dump. He brought his imagination into his garden. When Pearl is saying how his garden is not as important to him as his neighbors, it is really cool because someone had that much influence on someone. Pearl shows us through dedication, passion, and hard work anything can be obtained. Many times during the video Pearl was working on his garden at night. This shows how much he loves it, because most people after a long day would not want to go garden. They would go inside and watch some television. Pearl is special and has a true passion for his artwork.
A Man Named Pearl, made me think of The American Dream, and what that meant to Pearl. First off the American Dream is what an individual makes it to be usually a life style/the way a person lives. In Pearls case the American Dream is sustaining a garden. To him this is a great life style. However Pearl isn't selfish with his talents. He loves to help the community by aiding others and keping up their gardens as well. Another thing that crossed my mind during the film is that what will happen to everything when Pearls time is up? the quote from the film "nothing lasts forever" made me wonder why can't it last? just becuse Pearl is gone doesn't mean that he didn't leave a legacy that others can carry on. I am sure if people put their minds to it they could keep Pearls works alive, but then again no one knows what's going through Pearls mind.
The documentary, “A Man Named Pearl” is inspiring because of the hard work ethic and passion that Pearl has for topiary. This film makes me think of my future and if I will ever achieve outstanding passion for something as Pearl did for topiary. It made me realize that anything is possible with hard work and through hard work financial security will be inevitable. Pearl found what he loves to do and made that one thing a source of sustainable income. I am inspired by Pearl, and hope that some of his qualities are exemplified in me.
"A Man Named Pearl" was a very inspiring documentary. Even though Pearl didn't have much to start with and very few people actually believed that he could be successful he didn't give up. He knew what he was passionate about and refused to give up on it. He proved everyone that doubted him that he could be successful in topiary. He recognized that there were obstacles and instead of looking at them and running he faced them head on. He didn't complain either. Pearl is a great example of what dedication and hard work can achieve. He didn't have any training and yet you wouldn't know that unless somebody told you. The documentary helps you realize that you can reach your dream if you work for hard for it and don't lose sight of your dream. He also encourages others to work as hard as him. He wants others to be as happy as he is. Pearl is a great man with a great view on life.
A Man Named Pearl made me realize how work or school shouldn't stand in the way of what I am passionate about. I also thought it was wonderful how Pearl shared his passion and gifts to help his town rather than keep it to himself. I personally have trouble stopping when I have started working on something and I found it inspiring that Pearl would stop his work to give tours to visitors even when he didn't know people were going to show up.

After watching this film for a second time, I was able to really pick up on the motivation and reasons behind Pearl's hobby. His passion motivates himself as well as others. "You become strong enough so you don't let those obstacles determine where you go." Pearl is an inspiration to everyone he meets. His art as well as his personality and generosity have positively impacted the world. This film has made me realize the possibilities and how a single person can have such a positive influence on the world. Regardless of having already viewed the film previously, I felt it was a good reminder of what a person can achieve if they strive to reach their full potential.

Pearl in A Man Named Pearl was a man that had spent most of his life working a job that he seemed to not enjoy or be passionate about. That was until he found his dream, the dream of trimming and manicuring bushes and trees. This showed me that a dream or the American dream is not something that might appear at the begining of someones life. It could take you years to find out what you love to do and you might stumble upon it by accident. I am not sure if I have found my American Dream yet but Pearl has taught me to keep going and eventually it will come. Thanks Pearl!
A Man Named Pearl was an extremely motivating video. It made me realize that there is always time to do what you're deeply passionate about. He went to work everyday and got all of his necessary work done, than he would go and work hard at his passion. I loved how he created something so beautiful from absolutely nothing. Pearl took those unwanted plants and molded them into something great. This relates to the American dream in a way. You can start off with nothing but with a great deal of effort you can have something truly amazing.
The film A Man Named Pearl was very inspiring because it demonstrated that no matter what your background is, you can do whatever you are passionate about by working hard and being dedicated. Also, I really appreciated Pearl's humble attitude. Instead of being overly proud and arrogant about his talent, Pearl used his talent to better his community and connect with others from around the country. Pearl is a great role model for all aspiring artists and others who wish to pursue their dreams.

Pearl Fryer was the perfect example of that because he became so successful in something he loved, even when his town didn’t support him at first. Pearl grew up with very little but that did not stop him in his creation of something great, which was his yard and ability to make amazing art out of nothing.
A Man Named Pearl made me think about how I can live out my dreams. He just went for it without any training or schooling. When i watched it i thought about what i wanted to do in my life and the things i enjoy doing. i thought it was really cool that he did the thing he wanted to even though there was and is no financial gain form it. When i am older i want to do the same. i want to do the things that make me happy even if there isn't a lot of money in it.
In watching A Man Named Pearl, a lot was brought up. He was an inspiring man who went for his dreams without hesitation of what others thought. He stayed true to himself, and does what makes him truly happy. He made me contemplate what matters to me. Pearl had a wife that he loved, and kids that he cared so much about and also a garden he put everything of himself into. My favorite thought from Pearl was his main logo, Love Peace and Goodwill. I think this describes him overall and the message he wants to send to people. He is a very inspiring person who I wish I can become something like one day.
After watching the film, "A Man Named Pearl," I noticed many great qualities about Pearl. Pearl is a hard-working man that pursues what he dreams. He has a beautiful garden with thousands of plants. Pearl's message to the audience was you can turn nothing into something. What he meant is that you can grow up with nothing and if you go through hard work and dedication, you can accomplish whatever you set your heart to. Pearl is an inspiring man that makes you want to work even harder for what you want in life. What I liked most about the film though was the three words that he trimmed in his yard, "Love, Peace and Goodwill."
Pearl seemed to be an everyday ordinary man with out the education part. Pearl Fryar found his dream and pursued it with all his heart and all his time. Pearl's interest was trimming and shaping bushes. From the documentary, it talked about Pearl only taking one ten minute lesson on how to shape bushes and use the chainsaw. This is very interesting that Pearl could make a garden that draws the attention of more that the entire state of South Carolina. This shows that if we put hard work into what we believe or want, something good can come of it. Pearl Fryar is the perfect example of a dedicated person. It is truely amazing that almost all the planted shrubs, trees, and bushes in Pearl's garden are from the scraps of the local gardening center. He grabbed the "ungrowable trees" and make an awe inspiring work of art.
Pearl seems to be an inspiration around the country. He is a hard working man who likes to see the smiling faces on people when they enter his property and that is why he does it. Its not that he wants to show off his talent its that he wants to do something he loves and wanting to better his community and attract people in a inspiring way. This inspires me because he is a hard worker and is always wanting to do more and more to his garden eventhough he is now a 60 year old man and still working hard unlike many people his age. He is always trying to better his garden and that is what really inspires me.
Through the film about Pearl the one thing that really caught my attention was his care for everyone else as apposed to a self centered nature. He loves his garden and does it for his passion and hobby but he has built it for the beautiful nature so his nieghborhood is nice. Also, to have it be peaceful and opening for those who visit to feel the love and happiness he can so clearly preach about and demonstrate. Another thing he demonstrated was that "Anybody can do anything" being a child from a poor, field working family he fought his way up through racism and poverty to create a garden and success. On top of fighting to overcome hardships he wanted to accomplish a goal and that caused him to try something he hadn't done before that he had to learn as he went.
The man named pearl made me understad that motivation motivates everything and theres nothing thats past your abilityw. I learned that there will be maany nay sayers but you need to look past that and keep your eyes on what matters and not the nay sayers.
"A Man Named Pearl" made me contemplate my passions in life. Pearl followed his dream even with opposition in his path. The documentary spoke to how a person’s dreams can come true. Pearl worked hard and in the end it paid off. Pearl is inspirational and I think his story shows how anyone with passion can accomplish what they want.
I really likes the film "A Man named Pearl". I like the fact that he did what made him happiness. I think that this relates to the American dream because Pearl did what made him happy despite the money he made. He strived for happiness and gardening helped his exceed it. He never gave up no matter what. He worked his way from the bottom having no money to happiness. I think that this film gives off a really great message in that; you don't need to be number one to be happy you can just do what you love and get the same results
