It was very interesting to watch this video and see the timeline of F.Scott Fitzgerald’s life. After watching this video, Fitzgerald did have a good childhood and his parents were good and tried to help him and do their best. Although the Fitzgerald’s did have a hard time making accomplishments, this wasn’t going to stop him from achieving greatness and his dreams. He always felt a bit odd and left out at school when he was a younger school kid. But Fitzgerald had finally found his forte and a passion that he loved to do and something that he was really good at. With Fitzgerald’s passion for writing, made him exceed in great things in life and really rose him above the rest. With F.Scott Fitzgerald publishing a few books and short stories allowed him to live a lavish lifestyle, which caused him to have good and bad times. One of the biggest things that Fitzgerald dealt with was the woman he loved, after a few tries and trials he finally married the woman he loved. In the end, he did fallout because of his drinking addiction, but overall he made great history and left a great lasting legacy.

He was a very talented and very smart writer. He went to princeton and he tried playing football, but he slowly realized writing was his big deal. He showed many signs of drinking problems, He took a deeper route into his writing he used aspects of his personal life to make and even better story, He had found a golden girl for the second time. He started of with a terrible job but he needed to work up to where he got. He wrote in a different way and he drank pain away. He moved home and he finished his book. It was a hit and many people enjoyed his writing he had made history. He had women problems and drinking problems but he got through it by writing amazing books.

I think that Fitzgerald had such a fear of failing and ending up like his father that when he became loved by classmates for writing it made his passion to write increase. As he kept getting older and he wanted to be seen as important and inspirational writing is what got him noticed by the people around him. What I did notice was that Fitzgerald wanted everything, if he saw something that gave him an advantage or made him feel important he made it his life. Since the thing that gave Fitzgerald his drive was power and glory, it made for a very I think sad and lonely life because there would always be something that could give him more "glory". Which I think plays a lot into the character of Gatsby and he could even be based off of Fitzgerald himself.

Scott Fitzgerald's life turned out the way it did because of his childhood and the school he went to. He used his writing abilities to impress people. He went to princeton, and spent most of his time writing. He fell in love with a rich girl. He dropped out of school and failed at love. WW1 started and met another girl at a dance while waiting to go to war. A broken off relationship caused him to return home and began writing the book this side of paradise. It blew up and he became an instant celebrity. He wrote more and wrote a book about a couple who was in a downfall. They moved to England and wrote the great gatsby.

He had great hopes and aspirations to be a writer, which was a big goal for a little catholic boy. He sadly was washed up and forgotten by 40. He wished not to be a failure like his father. I feel like he found what he did well and stuck with it when he found his gift. He wanted to win people's praise and social acceptance and that was one of his main drives. I college he showed early signs of a drinking problem. He seemed to be aiming for glory, so he went to join the army to be seen as a war hero. He had missed his chance at glory because of how he fought in the war. In devastation, he wrote a book after being broken off. He had achieved the fame he had always desired after writing "This Side of Paradise". He considered "The Great Gatsby" before even publishing the book, his greatest work.

Fitzgerald seemed to have goals and a future he saw for himself. He also learned from his father's past mistakes and choices. He found his gift very quickly in his life which was beneficial to him and his "reputation" as a kid. He viewed himself as the big guy on campus but he stuck to writing instead. His writing skills seemed to work as a way to impress his peers. Unfortunately, he developed a drinking problem and focussed too much on writing. He seemed to want to impress anyone and everyone he could so being in the war added to his ego. He fell in love with Zelda and they got married. His drinking addiction became very bad and he fell because of that but he made a lasting impression and would be remembered by the world.

F. Scott Fitzgerald was born near the turn of the century (1896) in rural Minnesota. He was gifted with attending many great prep schools, but found himself a misfit because he was not as affluent. At a young age he found connections with people by impressing them with his writings. Fitzgerald went to Princeton where he did not make the football team, he joined the theatre group where he wrote many plays. He developed a crippling drinking problem and met his want to be wife in college. He withdrew from Princeton before he could graduate and he joined the military for WWI. Before going to war he met his wife Zelda, when he returned he purposed to her. In 1919 Zelda broke up with Fitzgerald because his news paper job only payed 35$ a week, he was depressed and moved home to work on his book. His novel "This Side of Paradise" got published and started the rise of his career. In 1920 Zelda came back to merry Scott after his success was found. They here known as king and queen in the roaring 20's. The couple had a kid in 1921. In 1924 the Fitzgerald's moved to Europe to avoid prohibition. Fitzgerald's drinking problem became a large problem , but he continued writing, eventually publishing "The Great Gatsby". Zelda had an affair and Scott never forgave her.

Fitzgerald was a very talented and creative writer. He also wrote based on his own life experiences as well. I think that what drove his passion of writing wasn't that he loved it so much as his fear of not being recognized by his friends and ending up a failure. His mindset of being in fear of failing and everybody abandoning him was also a big influence on how he lived his life in general. He would always take and advantage that he could get to get people to recognize and praise him. I also think that he was so caught up in wanting glory that he was blinded to everything else that he could have had and maintained instead of jumping into and out of relationships and drinking problems.

What did you observe?

Scott Fitzgerald poured himself into all of his works. To create this ultimate fantasy of his life, he took the people around him, ones he could never have and never be, and he would twist them into whatever they wanted. Zelda was the golden girl of the wild cities that could never be held back by a husband without promise of great wealth and success. This side of Paradise was itself, a celebration of his glamorized college days, as Gatsby delves into Scott and Zelda's marriage, child, and extravagant parties. Scott and Zelda even lived in Long Island, where The Great Gatsby is set. Fitzgerald turned his tragedy, his ego, and his addiction into twisted dreams of the Jazz Age and that is something that no writer had done before.

I thought that it was interesting how talented Fitzgerald was from a young age. I also thought that it was interesting how Fitzgerald often did things for social attention rather than pursuing his personal interest. He often wanted to be the biggest and best in everything and then pursued those goals with ambition. I thought that it was interesting what a heavy role alcohol and partying had in Fitzgerald and his wife's life. I think that this could reflect and show what the roaring 20s and life was like at the time.

I noticed that during his childhood his disregard for his father drove him to succeed but the temptations of college life and glory drove him to be lazy and drop out of college. His love for beautiful women distracted him and kept him from pursuing glory once again. However, his greatest downfall was his love for the party and alcohol which distracted him from writing.

Fitzgerald like many other Americans in this time was riding high through the 20's with a beautiful wife and lots of money. When the Great Depression hit he fell very hard. He becomes dependent on alcohol, runs out of money, and his wifed was locked up in an asylum. I think it is interesting how alcohol took over his life as it does too so many. It is also very interesting how similar his life his to the novel. How many people during this time had similar stories to Fitzgerald? I wonder throughout the rest of the novel what other similarities will emerge?

Fitzgerald started writing at a very early age which impressed lots of people to the point that everyone knew he would be a writer. Fitzgerald had a fun time through college partying, writing musicals and drinking with friends which caused him problems with the school later on until he dropped out. Majority of his writings referred to a golden girl which he had based off of his first love in college. Zelda was another crazy girl that would take risks, have fun and live her life. Zelda and Fitzgerald got engaged but due to Fitzgerald not having money, Zelda broke off the engagement because he couldn't support her lifestyle. Fitzgerald then went and wrote a good which was going to get published. Zelda motivated Fitzgerald because if she hadn't left him, he would never have finished his book for her. The family grew when Scotty their daughter was born but the family kept moving to new adventures which kept Fitzgerald writing books to make money. After watching the video, I have realized that even though Fitzgerald was a very successful writer and he loved writing a lot, he mostly did it for his family so he could support them throughout their crazy lifestyle. However this lifestyle also caused him many problems because it delayed his writing and he would drink a lot.

He felt he didn't fit in so he used writing an poems to please people and gain acceptance. He was really brave and outgoing sometimes. Jenever was his golden girl who he couldn't have but kept her letters. He flunked out of school at Princeton. He then went to boot camp and enlisted in the war and imagined himself as a war hero. He then met a girl named Zelda who was beautiful and wild. He called her his golden girl and she enjoyed his attention. He then moved to NYC and he lost Zelda. He moved back into his parents house and began to work on his novel, his future was riding on it. It ten got accepted for publication. He has a hard time making accomplishments and struggled but eventually began to make something of himself. His passion for writing made his extremely successful. His writing was kind of risky and is part of the reason it was so successful. He struggled to find his golden girl but eventually did marry Zelda and they had a daughter together. Their lives became alcoholic and chaotic until he started a new novel, The great Gatsby. Their live were chaotic and crazy often, but he was an amazing author and was extremally successful.

It's interesting to see how different experiences shaped Scott Fitzgerald's future and career in writing. This helped me understand how he wrote such an interesting and influential story. He's been a good writer since he was young and wrote throughout his school years while also running into problems like alcoholism, that probably influenced his writing and career. I noticed that Fitzgerald always wanted the best and would do anything to have what he wanted in life.

Watching Scott Fitzgerald's Life was interesting to me. Fitzgerald had a good teen life, going to an ivy league school and was popular in school. It was all good until he flunked out and had a hard time continuing to work hard, he showed early signs of an alcoholic. Fitzgerald trained for WWI but then the war was over and he missed his chance to be a war hero. He went through women he loved in his life but couldn't make them stick. He had a hard time everywhere Princeton, War, and a job he hated. Then he finally did something he loved continued to write a book he begun in college. It was published and Scott and his wife thrived in the jazz age. They partied and they had the most fun they could. Zelda and Scott were having trouble functioning together, they both realized their alcoholic issues with their ongoing parties and their ongoing drinking. They both decided to move to Europe where Fitzgerald would focus on writing his book "The Great Gatsby". Zelda and Scott had a bump in their marriage when Zelda had an affair with a man. Throughout the video it was more apparent that Scott had a drinking probably and eventually it would takeover his career.
