Puritanical thinkers have strict beliefs to religion and life. In Utah, there is an area of Morman people who all have strict beliefs. I personally don’t agree or believe in the things that they do, but they are doing nothing wrong, it’s just their way of life. They don’t really impact me because I don’t run into it every day. Even if I did live in Utah, I still would be accepting of them. I don’t see anything wrong with how strict they are or what they believe in because that’s just who they are. Yes, they connect with my worldview because they are not the only puritanical believers out there. A lot of people in middle eastern countries have strong beliefs and different religions that we may not understand. They have been living this way though forever, but I don’t agree with them because they are a little crazy with their religious beliefs.
Puritanical thinking and Rationalist ideology are everywhere in todays world, people everywhere have a decision that is theirs. Their beliefs, morals and religious values. Rationalist look at logic and do not base their beliefs on religion or emotion which is complete opposite of puritanical thinkers which base everything off of religion and emotion. To me, I am in the middle, I look to religion for optimism and use logic to make basic decisions. It doesn’t impact me at all, but it does give me a perspective on how others view the world. These two ideas have not changed my worldview either, I simply think that some are extremely puritanical thinkers and rationalist that make others feel like the way they live is not good enough.
Rationalist ideology and Puritanical thinking are preveant in nearly every aspect of daily life whether you conform to either one. Rationalists are considered as people who believe that human reason is unaided by divine revelations. In short it means that they believe people make their own life decisions aren't affected by the gods. Puritanical thinkers follow a strict moral or religious code, sometimes excessively. I think both these philosophies have their place and time. I see examples of puritanical thinking in the news. A common hotspot for this topic comes when the news discusses the Middle East, particularly Afghanistan. We are currently in a "War" on Terror which means we are fighting these extremists, puritanical thinkers,or fundamentalists whatever you want to call them are evidence of puritanical thinking. Rationalist ideologists have a part in the evolution discussion. They believe that human growth is not from the devotion and presence of God but the advancements of life from monkeys to humans. I think that the Muslim puritanical thinkers are wrong to think that hey are higher than everyone else, but i don't believe that we should put ourselves at a higher level we should in this aspect be equal beings. I know their are extremists in every religion I just don't like how the Muslims display their extreme thoughts on their religion. I think that the philosophy behind the rationalist idea of evolution is true. I have a hard time getting a grasp around the idea that we just appeared. Puritanical thinking doesn't connect to my world view as much as rationalist ideology does.
I defiantly think that we can find evidence of more rationalist thinking in our everyday world more and more. If turn on the TV you can find several shows on rationalist thinking. One in particular is Mountain men on the history channel. If you just think about there are still people living and thinking like people did in the 1800’s. They make their living off doing the same stuff generations before them did. I think if there wasn’t rationalist thinking out we’d sort of forget about our history because that is where we came from.

I believe that puritanical thinking and radical ideology are a huge part of todays world and have more power to shape the political and economic landscape of the world more than some would like to think. I have no problem with anyone's belief system and everyone should be entitled to pick what they want to believe. However I start to have an issue with a said belief or group of people who follow a belief system(Religious groups) when they start to push their own personal belief on others for reasons of profit through the use of scare tactics and violence. If you don't believe me ask the question of how many wars have been fought and how many people have died trying to protect their own religion or kill someone else because of theirs. Puritanical thinking and radical ideology are a big part of my everyday life because the world I live in has been shaped and is ruled by puritanical thinkers and radical ideologists. Many of the people who run the world today whether it be the queen of England, the supreme leader of Iran, the president of Ethiopia, or a member of the U.S congress are very religious and very strictly follow an idealist belief. In fact it is almost impossible to get into a high ranking government role without a strong religious belief. These people rule and have power over the large amount of people they govern and their own religious views are brought through and forced on people who do not agree and are affected by them. If you are a woman in the middle east, most of the time you need to be in the company of man when you leave the house and you man or may not be able to show your face because Islamic people give little to no rights to women because of their religious beliefs. If you are gay man or women in the United States and you fall in love with someone in the same sex you are not allowed to marry them by law because it is against the religious views of many Americans. In fact the other day two young men rang on my doorbell and stood at my door for twenty minutes trying to convince me to become and Mormon and join their church so I can start making donation. Puritanical thinkers and radical ideologists are a big part of my life even though they do not influence my own personal opinion but they do greatly influence the world around me.
This country was built off of puritanical thinking. Our founding fathers were very influenced by religion in their decision making. Our dollar bill and coins have the saying, "In god we trust". In fact John Adams stated, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." So clearly, when our founding fathers were creating the laws and policies of our country, they had a very puritanical way of thinking. And it stayed like that for a while, people believed in God and went to church and didn't question it. It's only been recently that more and more people have started to think in a more rationalist kind of way. Along with our progress in science has come the explanation of how things came to be. We stop imagining our existence, and start to look at the evidence. While many people still go to church, they are less involved in it, and go more for the social aspect. The role of influence religion once had is dwindling, people know about heaven and hell, God and the devil. But they choose not to care. I don't really care what a person believes as long as they don't try to use it for rationalizing bad decisions. Or having bad morals. People use to be a lot more polite when we were more puritanical. We had the 'respect your neighbors' and 'do unto others as you would have them do to you' way of thinking. We've lost that way of thinking now, just because you live on the same street or next to someone, doesn't make you friends with them. And while some may say that's a problem, think of how many issues religion has caused. It's split people apart, started wars, created prejudice. I personally think we should be able to keep the friendly, morals without religion, but also not hate others because they have a different belief.
Puritanical thinking and Rationalist ideology can be found everywhere in todays world.I personaly am a rationalist, I don't hate people if they don't see the world the way that I do and I would hope that they are the same with me. I think that it is amazing the way people have a connection and bekieve in a higher power.
So many people have the rationalist kind of thinking, I have that kind of thinking. Even though I have that kind of thinking I still try to have a religious kind of thinking, because with me the possibility of no religion is really scary with out something more in my life.
Puritanical thinkers don't have many options when it comes to religion, they are born into a life where they have very strict religious rules. I do not believe in these ways but I believe it should be ones choice to either follow those beliefs or to not want to follow that way of life. The beliefs these people have are somewhat to an extreme.
Puritanical thinking is an extreme religious way of life. People involved are born into a strict religious family that puts high influences to stay that religion. There is nothing wrong in this if that is what you believe but i believe it will be better if people can find these beliefs on there own instead of introduced to it at birth.
I think puritanical and rationalist ideology is very prevalent in the world today in many different ways. I think both views can be seen while watching the news, reading the paper or even novels, and especially in everyday situations and interactions with various people. I understand how people choose to think like this, and I understand that the reasoning behind these kind of thoughts might originate from many different experiences and upbringings that many different people have. However I also think that there is a time and place for these ideas, and I think that people who choose to share these ideas with other people should do so in a way that won't come across as offensive or threatening. Both puritanical and rationalistic views impact me on a daily basis. Whether it's from talking with my parents or friends, or even just watching tv or reading books. Everybody has a different way of thinking, but many people who think that there truly is a divine force that is pulling the strings if you will, have no problem sharing it with the world, which in turn impacts every single person out there. Because I believe that once you put something out into the world, it's out there forever. No matter how big or small, I think every single thought has some effect and I can back this up from my personal experiences. Seeing as my personal experiences and my interactions with people on a daily basis is the very foundation of which led me to where I am today, and on which I built my own beliefs.
In todays world we mostly see puritanical thinking all over the world. Religion is part of most peoples everyday life, and we personally have the power to believe what we believe in and choose our morals. I think puritanical and rationalist ideology is just amazing because it’s what makes us different from the person sitting next to us and gives us variety. This has some impact on me because of the variety as stated above, but it’s just amazing to see what people do with their beliefs and how far they take it. looking at it at a worldwide view it can be good or bad because in some places you can get killed for the morals you believe in and it’s just a shame those places have little freedom so people can spread their wings, but as for the places that do have large amounts of freedom it’s the adventure that matters.
Puritanical and Rationalist behavior is still a very common thing to this day. Some people are still very religious and live life with a very strong mind set on how their lives are going to be lived and they have a vision of how every one else should live. Personally I don't find my self being affected by this. I think its 100% okay to be religious but I do not agree with forcing or persuading some one else to become a part of that religion. The same thing goes for Rationalists. Having theories and beliefs is one thing but saying that those beliefs have to be based on knowledge not religion isn't fair. I think every one has their opinion and bases that opinion on different things and that's how it should be. Once again I do feel an impact when it comes to rationalists, I think school is kind of an example. In school you aren't told that you can not base your ideas off of religion but I think teachers try and stay away from that point of view, and stay with facts. That is how I see it.
Puritanical thinkers and rationalists ideology are all around us in todays society. Rationalists put aside their emotional and religous feelings and base their decisions purely on logic. Puritanical thinkers are quite the opposite and base their actions on their emotions and religion. These views can be seen everywhere in todays world from political debates to classroom discussions. Although most of the time the controversy happens between extremists from both sides their ideas, reasons, and views on certain topics are slowly molding societal views. Personally I'm in the middle. Depending on the situation I find that being logical is the way to approach the problem at hand, but I also find myself being puritanical when the choice I have involves my emotions and moral values. As far as the impact these two ways of thinking has on me I feel it really doesn't have an impact. But what it does give me is insight on certain ways people think about things and why they might act the way they do, and same goes for my worldwide view. Knowing these two ways of thinking: puritanical and rationalist just allow me to further understand and question decisions people in the world make.
Puritanical thinkers and rational thinkers are very prevalent in today's society. Piritanical thinkers are very in tune with religion and think strictly about their life and how it relates to the gods. They believe that the gods have a massive influence on their lives and base their decisions made in life off them. Rational thinkers on the other hand use logic I'm their daily life and believe that their life decisions aren't affected by the gods. I consider myself a rational thinker by far compared to a puritanical thinker. Mainly because I am one who makes my decisions logically and based off passed experiences or the position I am in. Especially in a world where nothing is for certain and everything is always changing I believe that there are more rational thinkers who take in everything before making a decision. Although puritanical thinking is out there I haven't seen it to an extent of everything is made in regards to the gods. I have on the other hand seen a lot of rational thinkers because it is easy for most to do especially if you are not one Who is connected deeply to religion.
I believe that puritanical thinking and radical ideology are in our world today. You can find both of these in the news, newspaper and in real life situations. There are still some people today who are very religious and have a clear mindset of what they want and there are people in today's world that believe in something but it has to be based in knowledge. These ideas don't effect me. People have there own ways and i personally think that both of these are ok to a certain point.
There is still a lot of Puritanical thinking and Rationalist ideology in today's world. Many people are strict with religion and have very close-minded views. There are many churches and religions that are strict on their beliefs and what the people can do, Mormanism is an example of this. Mormons are very strict on how they raise their kids and the church life. I think religion is okay but not if it restricts you too much. People should be able to choose what they believe in and how they will show their faith. I grew up in Catholic schools up until freshman year so I know a great amount about religion, it has impacted me greatly. After many beliefs being forced upon me, I believe that everyone should choose what they believe and how they will live out their life according to that religion.
Rationalist ideology and Puritanical thinking are everywhere in the world today. Puritanical thinkers have beliefs in religion, while Rationalist ideology means to base their thoughts off of facts around them. I feel like I am more of a Rationalist when it comes to my perspective and way of thinking. Puritanical thinking is still very much in the world today such as Catholicism and Mormonism, they follow very strict guidelines as to how they show their faith.
Many can agree that puritanical thinking and rationalists ideology does show up often in todays world. these can show up potentially anywhere and I feel that it is not a bad thing. we need rationalists as another opinion on why things happen. the same goes for puritanical thinkers. it may be human nature to be curious as to why things happen or are to be. I don't agree with either however I don't completely disagree with their opinions as well.
Puritanical thinkers differ from Rationalists. They believe in a higher power where Rationalists don't. We can find it everywhere. In our family, friends, and social media. I am a Rationalist but don't have a problem with Puritanical thinkers. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.
Both Rationalist and Puritanical thinking are in the world today. Rationalist thinking seems to be more common than it once was, but puritanical thinking is still there. However, neither one should be taken to the extremes. We don't want to torch the people with new ideas, but we don't want to take new ideas and run away with them without thinking.
Even today there are definitely people with Rationalist and Puritanical mindsets. Even in the United States there are religious extremists, especially in the south. My mom grew up in the south so we go there every summer and there’s definitely a difference in atmosphere. On the way to my grandparents house we even pass an Amish village. There are a lot of super religious people who like to preach at you whether you’re religious or not. They don’t impact me every day but there are some people who they do. But when I do go out to my grandparents’ house, I can definitely feel the difference, and on a regular basis over the summers I get preached at. I sort of agree with them, that if you believe in something you should be passionate about it, but at the same time, it’s sort of rude to go around shouting at people that they’re going to hell.
