Worldview?

Do you see evidence of the worldviews of the Puritans and Rationalists around you today? What do you think about these worldviews? How do they impact you?

World views of puritans and Rationalists are streamlined into to our society so much now that i think sometimes we just get so used to it that no one really notices them anymore. Every time i watch tv there ends up being some kind of little "worldview" thrown in here and there. There is a ton of evidence right now becasue in the DNC and the RNC thats how they are gonna try to attrack voters. I am currently watching the RNC and just now i heard Sarah Palin refer to god and religion about four times.
I personally love hearing about other peoples views becasue it broadens my knowledge of those around me. Ignorance is not the life i would choose to live so having a open mind and listening to other worldviews really helps me avoid that type of life.

Yes as we live in a country which abides by the belief's of the puritans. The Religion came to being because of how the English government controlled the church. They fled to America and created the great country that we live in. We are given the opprotunity to express our beliefs without being oppressed by the government. I believe that these world views are beneficial to a successful society. It creates a lot less tension as religion is a major issue to a lot of people. the less amount of tension equals more support for the country. This impacts me because I can have constructive arguments stating my beliefs without worrying about serious consequences allowing me to learn from others and their experiences.

I think our views of puritanism and rationalism are every where in todays culture. From our politics, to our schools. Even in our current events, the RNC and DNC have strong polar views and representations of puritanism and rationalism. These views impact us in our lives everyday, in one way or another. World views are an important aspect of our lives, and its important that we both see other's views of the world, and evaluate our views.

Puritans and Rationalists are apart of our worldviews today because it was how our country was ruled, passing down our views to upcoming generations. Since the English rule in America, the sudden freedom, made them decide if they should stay with the ways of the Queen/Catholic church or opened themselves to new ideas; questioning God's part in government and/or if virtues is more important.
I think these world views are a great thing! Our forfathers faught for our freedoms and we are exercising those rights. To be able to share our views makes this country unique. We are able to show different sides of things without being punished or ridiculed. Even though we don't always agree, that just adds more depth and knowledge to whoever is listening.

I believe that our views of puritanism and rationalism are definitely present in today's society. I love hearing about other's peoples views on certain subjects because it helps me form my own opinions. At the same time, it broadens my understandings on certain topics. I agree with what Taylor said in the fact that ignorance is not the life I wish to live. Our world would not be the same if there weren't different values to believe in. If everyone was the same, and had the same views, life would just be plain boring. World views are something that we can all gain knowledge from, and encorporate into our daily lives.

Although there is evidence of the modern day puitans and rationalists in our society today I balieve that they are not as noticable as they were in the 1600 and 1700s. Back a long time ago the thing that only mattered was your religion and your veiws on how someone should worship. But today there are too many religions to keep track of, and so many different ways to express your religion that it's very hard to pick the puritans from the rationalists.

Everywhere around the world today, evidence of the Puritans and Rationalists' world views can be found. America would not be as we know it today without many of the founding fathers having puritanical backgrounds and beliefs. Though many Americans do not believe in these same principles, they are woven throughout our constitution and society. The views of the Rationalists can also be found in society however. Many people with rationalistic beliefs are lobbying for change in the current American government because it is based so much on the puritanical movement. One example of the rationalistic influences is the separation of church and state that we have in America, the Rationalists wanted to keep the government separate from religion, because they were so prominent and they were intertwined as well.

Wrold views are extremely present in our society today. I agree with Taylor in that they are present so much that we simply get used to it and don't even notice. These wordlviews are thrown at us from every direction. We are subjected to them everyday by school, politics, media, and our peers. I believe that it is important to recognize others worldviews because it expands our horizons. It helps us to understand people better, and to keep our minds open.

Today I see a lot of Puritan worldviews because many countries allow religious freedom. "They did not believe that the clergy or the government should or could act as an intermediary between the individual and God." (pg.9 Elements of Literature) I think this worldview is good because we aren't forced to worship in a way we don't believe.
The evidence I see of Rationalism is found in things like the scientific method because Rationalists believe that problems can be solved through reason rather than intuition or faith. Rationalism impacts me every day because the doctors that keep us healthy use reasoning to create life-saving medicines.

I think that everything that we do today is just some variations of what the purtians or the relist thaought. a lot of argumints that happen in politics is just the same arguments that where happing when our countruy was first being created. The two most likely had a part in leading to the first two, and bigest political partys of today.

It think both puritian and rationilist views are in our world today. In our politics mostly but Puritian views are in many places. There is freedom to speak and to speak about what you believe in and I think that is healthy and right for this world right now. You can learn from eachother and eachothers mistake and it really helps you to see what is happening around you. It helps you form an opinion you like and share it with other people that have similar and even different ones.

I believe that we see plenty of world views from the Puritans and Rationalists in our society and country today. These are the ideas that America was modeled from. Whether we like their views or not, they are extremely apparent in our society and are very commonly used. I enjoy hearing all different types of opinions and views on topics and this is no exception.

I see evidence of the worldviews puritans and rationalists on the news and in many of my peers. That's usually what people are separated into; puritans and rationalists. Puritans are really into what they believe. Rationalists focus more on logic and reason. These people impact me by what they believe is right for the public and America.

Yes I definitely see the effects of the Puritans in our country today, because their beliefs are the ones by on which our country was founded. Their ideas about the freedom to express ourselves is evident every day in my life. I am grateful that they applied religion to the founding of our country. The Puritans main reason for coming to America still resinates as "the american way of life". Today's rights and freedoms that we enjoy are all thanks to the Puritans innovative thought process.

We see all kinds of views from differentpeople and their beliefs. Some are more Puritans and some are more Rationalists. Turn on the T.V and we see Things that are happening all over the world. Turn on the radio, we hear problems that are going on. Go outside your house and fighting is on all over the place.
But the thing is that they affect us in many ways. We hear this, we see that, And in the end, we son't know what to think.
In some it helps us to see how to deal and what to think with different kinds of people. But on the other hand, it can really hurt us in many ways. We get confused, and our thoughts are manipulated.
It all depends on what the person thinks and believes.

World views in todays culture are all around us. Through being online and watching tv we get used to hearing world views. The RNC and DNC have the majority of the country watching them. which well shows that they impact a lot of people. world views are important to everyday lives and its always a good idea to be able to back up arguments when they arise on the subject. Its part of life.

I believe that there are very large portions of evidence in the world of the Puritans and Rationalists world views, overall that is where some of our beliefs and views come from...just a slight moderation to the past views makes it our own. The media and people aspiring to get ratings in the media all milk the fact that most people lean towards one side or the other.
Personally, I enjoy hearing one's side of the story, or whatever he/she believes in just to know what people are doing around me, but I do not enjoy the fact that everyone goes around imposing their beliefs on one another. Let one be who he wants to be; do not try to change the unchangeable.

i definately think that the views of the puritans and the rationalists are very evident especially now while the presidential debates are going on and the time to vote is coming up in about 2 months. the pres. speeches are the biggest thing right now because everyone is paying a lot of attention to what each candidate says and the difference in their points of view and how they are going to make the US a better place. i am greatly affected by it because i am for one side but it's good to hear that the other side does have some of the same views that i do, although the differences are very controvercial.

I agree with Taylor, Brian Z, and Brooke. I agree that everytime you turn on the TV or read a book, you see examples of the worldviews of Puritans and Rationalists. Other peoples world views impact you even if you don't realize it. You learn from other people's worldviews, it helps you understand the world better.

Worldviews of puritans and rationalists are still around today and evidence is all over. From the rationalists who kill themselves for there beliefs and puritans who still follow the old ways. I think these views are fine because it is what others think and i can't tell them what they can and can't believe in. Neither puritan views or rationalist views impact me cause i have nothing to do with what they are doing.

Everybody has talked about how seeing different world views is good for us and i do agree that listening to what other people say is good for us. My only thought is, would life really just be boring like brian said or would it be better if everybody were on the same lines in their worldviews? Yes it would be boring, but maybe it would make it better for people.

I think that the world views of both the puritans and the Rationals are just taken in by the whole society and are not seen as influencial as they might have been in the past. I think that both of them having some input to our society is very important becuae they both help make our society not swing towars just being Puritan or just being Rationalist. Also both allow people to bo who they want to be when they want to.

today puritinism and nationalism are two commonly heard things, i enjoy listening to conversations about different topics that are involving my concerns, or actions that i need to further investigate before i follow through with them. everywhere around me there is some sort of "worldview" incorperated. such as these political ads, every single one involves a rationalists talking about how a puritan view is wrong, or how they are missleading americans to follow anothyer view... and well of course vis-versa. i enjoy hearing about things like this because it helps me come up with my own decision and see other views.

I think there is some evidence of those views around us today. There are still people that believe every sin you do will damn you. And there are people that preach about being a better person. The only way I am impacted is because i have to put up with listening to people like that every once in a while. I do not believe in their philosophy or points on life at all.

One of the interestings things about world views is that every one had a different one. Every one sees something different than you which is why it is important to listen to all of the view that you can to broaden your knowledge. Some people might see things from a different prospective and when that happens it helps to listen to why they think the way that they do so you can have a better understanding of them. I think that world views are a big part of the world we live in today, because it seems like everyone on television is expressing there world view. You could even argue that writters and producers of show there world views when they decide what and how an actor should say or do in there show. I also think that a lot of people are influenced by Puritans and Rationalists because they are intergrated into our every day lives. Most religious people get part of there world view from a church so you can mix your world view with someone elses and still have it be totally different that any one elses.
