Inspired?
"All my life I had been looking for something, and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was naïve. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: That I am nobody but myself.”
--Ralph Ellison, From Invisible Man

I think that both the Ralph Ellison quote and the Inspired Bicycles: Way Back Home video express the idea that you need to become you. You can’t always live up to societies’ expectations, and quite honestly, why should you. They try to mold you to be just like everyone else, when you should really be you, not anyone else. You need to follow your dreams, because without your dreams you wouldn't be any more unique than the next person. Be happy, don’t let society bring you down, and most importantly, never give up on your dreams.
I watched the video of Inspired bicycles, it inspired people that they want to have a life like Danny's, because Danny can do what he want for his life. Like us what we want and can do it for ourselves for our life and not just common life like go to school, make a family, go to work, and again and again. Because everyone is afraid to change and afraid that everyone else might disagree with each other and let the people control our lives. But inside of our hearts that we want to be free. So keep getting goals on your dreams for your and our future!
The video Inspired bicycles related to me because in the video the cyclist was going back home doing what he loves. In my life I’m always trying to find out what I love to do. Also, in life it is important to be at home. Home is where the heart is and you feel loved. If you both these thing then you should be happy in life and in the end that’s all that matters.

The "Inspired Bicycles" and Ralph Ellison quote relate to my world because they both show how we need to do what we love in life and not what other people think we should do. We as people find it hard to leave our comfort zone and try to achieve what we truly want in life. It is easy to become comfortable living in the modern world because we all have routines that we go through everyday. It takes a lot of courage to fully commit to what we would like to achieve in our lives. This video and the quote serve to inspire us to achieve what we want to in the world.
I feel that the Ralph Ellison quote and the Inspired Bicycles video present an intriguing idea that you should not shape your entire self on the expectations and beliefs of others. You should come to conclusions on your own and make choices that reflect what you want to do, not what society expects you to do. As Ellison said, everyone's expectations are different, sometimes even contradictory. Why would you even try the impossible of fulfilling the expectations of others when you could just choose to live your life the way you see fit? Because that's what it comes down to: are you living your life to YOUR expectations? Are you fulfilling your dreams, or just slugging along as a slave to the judgement of society?
Both Inspired Bicycles and the Ralph Ellison quote relate to my world because you should do what you love and follow your dreams in life. If you have your mind on something then you need to strive to achieve it. It definitely can connect with school and playing sports.
The video Inspired Bicycles and Ralph Ellison quote not only inspire myself, but it proves that humans can do anything they want if they put their mind to it. This video really makes me want to go out in the world and dedicate myself to get better, whether that is for my job or a hobby. I want to be the very best at hockey, golf, tennis, motocross, mountain biking, engineering, physics, and instruments. I want to dedicate my free time to improving my athletic and academic abilities rather than just watching TV and sleeping.
After watching "Inspired Bicycles" it opened my mind to the possibilities of all things we do every day. I mean, we all know how to ride a bicycle, but what Danny Macaskill does with a bike is truly riding a bicycle. So what he does with the bicycle is inspiring to all of those that watch the video. So be yourself and know that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
I think the Inspired Bicycles video and the quote by Ralph Ellison strongly represents the concept of being yourself and choosing your own path. It is easy to take somebody's words and let them hold you back from finding yourself. For example a person at school could tell you you will never have what it takes to achieve a certain standard. Us humans have to learn to be vulernable and take risks in life and that is what makes us better, more confident individuals. It's easy to blend in and hide your personality but true character comes from "going out on a limb" and going after what you love and who you believe you truly are inside.
The quote and the video were very inspirational. The quote in particular, means a lot to me because it is a way of thinking that I have recently begun to really grasp. All that matters is the way we interpenetrate the world around us. We should spend more time examining our lives and getting to know yourself and what we believe. That is the only way to find out what will work for us. You also must know who you are. If what makes you happy is telling yourself that you are small then do so. You should follow your dreams but know enough about the world as to not disappoint yourself. Your academic endeavors should be to obtain the most amount of knowledge that you can. Both have to do in a way with finding your own way to do something. In the video that is your own way to do a bike jump and in the quote it is your way of living.
After watching Inspired Bicycles: Way Back Home, and reading the quote by Ralph Ellison, it gave me some great insight on how these men view life. I ski competitively so I can somewhat relate to the danger and extremes of Danny MacAskill; but I am of course no where near that level. This was kind of eye opening for me because this guy does what he loves, and get's paid for doing it. To me that is the ideal situation to be in. I realize that I will most likely not be a pro skier, but this helped me understand that you should do what you love no matter what.
After watching the video "Inspired Bicycles" and reading the Ralph Ellison quote, my mind was opened to the possibility of true happiness. So many people in today society are involved in activities/sports/classes that bottom line don't make them happy. For example many people just know if the go through the same motions everyday, one day they'll be able to say they learned something (very cliche). However they're wrong. Most people who have this mentality, ultimately forget the most important part: happiness. So many people forget, or don't even know, what makes them happy. I believe the messages from both the video and quote are quite simple: find something that makes you happy, whether your good, average, or bad it doesn't matter. All that matters is if you're having a good time. In addition, whatever it is that makes gives you this true happiness, makes you unique.
After watching the bicycle video, I was very inspired. That guy was inspiring me to do what I love and practice. He inspired me to follow my dreams. It is only up to me to do what I want. No one else can control that.
Ralph Ellison's quote relates to my world because I have no idea what I want to be or what I want to do but I realize I am the only person who can determine what it is that I would like to do. I was moved by Ralph and what all he could do on his bike and how interested he must be in what he does to get good at it. He loves what he does and when I am older I want to be in love with whatever I accomplish or want to do.
I believe that both the quote and the video emphasize that you should find who you are and express your uniqueness. No matter how hard you may try, you can not conform to be some perfect person in the eyes of society, but instead you can be perfect in your own vision, by following your dreams. The quote, as well as the video helped inspire me to find something unique in myself and to express it.
Self discovery is a life long journey that has no destination. We are social creatures, influencing each other with our everyday interactions. It takes a strong willed individual to resist the outside pressure sprouting from the opinions of others and society. It is in this realization that you will never be able to impress everyone that creates individualism and learning to love yourself despite social norms.
If you have a dream, achieve it. There's nothing you can't do when you're being you. I think that if you have a particular dream or talent, that you're proud of, go for it and don't let anyone tell you "no" or that you can't achieve it. The way I see it, there never has been, is, or will be another person like you on this earth. So don't let anyone convince you to be someone else because you were meant to be an original, not a copy. Be shamelessly you no matter who that is.

After watching the video of Inspired Bicycles, I think it can inspire people to live like Danny. People could be inspired by him because he spends as much time as he can to succeed in what he loves. It relates to me because I have things I am committed to in life but don't always spend as much time as I could to improve my self. Both Ralph Ellisons quote and the Inspired bicycles encourage me to succeed in what I love, and anything is possible.
I watched the video of Inspired Bicycles. The video inspired me to want to have a career where I genuinely want to go to work everyday. I'm not planning on going to college because I'm still deciding on whether or not to enlist in the Army or chase my dreams of going pro in bmx. This video really changed my perspective of what I want to do in life because I only wanted to join the Army because I felt that was the only option I had. But since I enjoy bmx so much, I now have to decide between both of them.
After watching the video I started to realize that what is important in life is different to many different people. Right now, in my life I have always thought that what makes me happy is what makes other people happy as well. For example, I have always wanted to play football and participate in the hobbies that have brought me joy. I thought everyone would love to participate in sports and be active. I see in the video that the happiness of this individual is determined by what kind of advances he can make in a field that he already has a type of mastery of.
Personally, I didn't find the Inspired Bicycles video inspiring. I enjoyed it, but all I got out of it was some guy doing bicycle tricks for Red Bull on what looked like might have been historical sights. It was cool, but didn't make me feel any different. Maybe if I was in class when this video was shown to get more background knowledge, I would have felt differently, but to me, it was just a video. With the quote, there was definitely more with which I could relate. I do sometimes feel like I'm looking for something that I can't find, but unlike Ellison, I would purposely ask others what it is, while knowing that they can't help. I can't seem to figure out what I'm looking for, and even though no one else can help me, I don't want to have to be alone. The last line, "That I am nobody but myself," also speaks to me, but in a different way than Ellison probably meant it. While he used that line to explain that it means he is unique, I view it in a way that means that I am nothing special, just me.
The video Inspired bicycles made me realize being you is the best way to find happiness and live a radical life. I believe we should live for what we are passionate about and do it to the best of our ability. If you ask everyone else how you should live and their answer wont fulfill you because that's based of of their experiences and what makes them happy. In order to find the right life you need to search for what you're passionate about and stick with it. Dream big and if you want to succeed as much as you want to breath when you get the wind knocked out of you that dream will become reality.
The Inspired Bicycles: Way Back Home video, and the Ralph Ellison quote could provide us all with a new perspective on how to think and how to life, as the video could have inspired us to do what we want and to move forward throughout life. The Ralph Ellison quote has given me a perspective that we are in control of our lives and only ourselves are in control, that we decide who we are and how we decide to live. The quote and the video somewhat encourage us to chase our dreams, and do what we wish in life in order to find out who we are and to achieve the realization that we are nobody but ourselves. These have both given me a new outlook on how to achieve what I want and to stop depending on the world to give me answers to which only I can answer.
I think that the video and the quote shows us to be who we are and not do what society tells us to do, it shows us to love life and make the best out of it, it shows us to make your own decisions and all of the possibilities ahead of us.
After watching the video and reading the quote, I realized that everyone has different dreams and the only way to live your life to the fullest is to chase those dreams. I used to think the amount of money you made had a direct correlation of how happy and successful you are. That is not true! Chasing your dreams and doing what you love is what defines a person as successful. This video relates to me because I have dreams and aspirations that I hope to achieve someday. Just like Danny, I put a lot of effort and hard work into my dreams in order to someday make them come true.
